This is a thing practically everywhere. Or was at some point. Typically only seen at older or divier places these days.

Grease is CAMP and none of the actors look like teenagers - it’s consistent.

It’d be easier to suspend disbelief if there was continuity - if all the teen characters age-look was the same. But they’re not, that’s the problem - Ben Platt looks jarringly older than the other actors/characters. That can easily take people out of the immersion.

That cracked me up. The other I saw that amused me was that he looked like a Kyle Mooney character.
