For paying an extra $5 of allowance money, I let my kids choose their seats in the van (third row only, 28" seat pitch). And if they got a good progress report, I’ll even let them bring an extra carryon bag with guaranteed space (on the roof rack, that is).

Yes, it’s theoretically possible for Uber/Lyft to adopt a legitimate contractor/business relationship.

I personally don’t think that the biggest change will be price or pay. Those may go under, but if the workers are now employees they will be managed like employees. That means performance goals, stricter hours, etc.

People are so irresponsible. Don’t they know that plastic grocery bags are terrible for the environment?!

It was just that thing where you try to repeat a joke at the party thinking they just didn’t hear you but it just bombs again.

So instead of being the “American version of BMW,” as the story says, this time Cadillac will be GM’s version of Tesla. Maybe this reboot will take, who knows.

I agree with you that the idea that a low-skill job can make bank is a bit of a pipe dream. But there are a lot of people who have those pipe dreams and Uber relies in no small part on exploiting those dreams.
