This is a great way of putting it, yeah. Both versions are told from multiple perspectives, but the book is ultimately concerned with how Jack sees things and the movie is ultimately concerned with how Wendy and Danny see them.

There are people who think it’s not a good performance?

There’s an insane amount of misogyny in discussions of her performance in The Shining. (Which is appropriate considering how misogynistic King’s early works are, whether or not he can admit it.) People saying things like “I was rooting for Jack” and “I wanted to kill her as well.” Like, do you say that to all battered

She was the center of The Shining, a fantastic movie.

Wait, there are people who thought her performance was bad?

I recently rewatched The Shining and it’s so strange the discourse around her in it because her performance not only isn’t bad, it’s uniquely good. It’s honestly one of the most brutally realistic depictions of a woman in an abusive relationship. It’s interesting too because throughout the movie she’s legitimately

I don’t even own a nanny.

Have you ever cancelled a limited series by mistake?

It’s just odd to me how shows like Euphoria and Yellowjackets that are about teens don’t rush to get their seasons in while the actors still look the part.

There hasn’t been a platonic friendship in movies that was safe from shipping since Kinderman and Dyer in Exorcist III.

They should just do an entire show where there’s an internal monologue for a bunch of kids going through puberty. I’m imagining a great Nick Kroll vehicle.

I’m being told seven seasons of this show and a two-season spin-off already exist.

We will just have to wait for Inside Out 4, which will deal with a 20 year-old Riely coming to grips with her cocaine addiciton and having her fourth abortion.

“The Munsters Today”? Motherfucker, that was 35 years ago. Can’t trust TV for shit, I tell you. Don’t even get me started on “The New Dick Van Dyke Show”...

That the Mother mattered at all?

totally off topic...not totally...but too many people have slept on The Plan, the movie they made to fill all the plotholes in the show, it was pretty fun

The Simpsons is just as good today as it was in 1994?

That the truth was out there? Or maybe it is, but Mulder & Scully are just terrible at actually getting to it.

To be fair, the Cylons had a plan - kill everyone.

That everybody loves Raymond. His own brother couldn’t stand him!

trying to tell us in the early seasons that the characters in Lost were totally Not Dead
