You seem like a sad person. I was going to say something nasty about you, because you make it so easy, but what's the point? It is not your job to monitor other people's eating choices, but more importantly, why would you want to? Don't you have more things to think about and do with your life?

How about you follow up "I don't know enough about thyroid issues" with "so I'll keep my mouth shut about things I know nothing about"?

You normally go around with that much bile festering in your stomach or did the DQ give you a bad case of indigestion?

I'm sure child abuse victims just LOVE to hear that they would have been better off dead. You are really a piece of work.

YOU are grotesque and lack self-control to spew these vile things. Where do you get off judging people (without facts, even)? On the TLC show they specifically said that she had a severe (and untreated) thyroid disorder which caused her to gain large amounts of weight very quickly. Diet and exercise would not have

Not to say that I think overeating is some kind of mortal sin, I just hate to see someone bragging about it and then berating other people for having the gall to be fat.

It's pretty grotesque to brag about the large quantity of greasy foods you've just consumed and then claim that not being overweight makes you a paragon of virtue and moderation. Half a box of doughnuts in one sitting sure sounds like gorging to me.

You are blessed with a freakishly good metabolism. I eat 1800 calories a day (I keep a food diary), exercise every day, and in the last 6 months gained 20 pounds. If I ate your lunch I would literally gain 2 pounds. It has happened to me before. You are blessed. Don't mistake your good fortune for reality.

I agree. If you have any doubts about where your sympathies should lie, just ask yourself, who the weak party is. If there is a child involved, it's always the child. So, no, I don't side with her on this issue. I have read too many women cover up the abuse of their children at the hands of their husbands/boyfriends,

Are you kidding me with this? First of all, the woman has a thyroid disorder. Second of all, why would you DISREGARD the most heinous part of the story in favor of ranting about how gross obese people are? What is wrong with you that your takeaway from this whole thing was "fatty needs to exercise"? A child DIED.

Your empathy and compassion are inspiring. If you "freak out" if it looks like you're gaining ten pounds, your relationship with food and body image might not be that healthy, either.

The *someone feeding her* is the part that always gets me. She cannot go to the store to buy the food she eats- someone in her life was obviously enabling her, instead of getting her help for her mental (manifested as physical) condition. That person is the one that deserves scorn, just as much as drug dealers and the

In addition to that, I also would like to know how people can afford all the food. Even if it's cheap crap, it's a lot of cheap crap, and this family looks pretty poor.

I don't understand why they were charging the big woman with capital murder yet the actual murderer got away with "causing injury to a child" and only got 15 years in prison....She not only harmed a child, she MURDERED him. What is truly disgusting here is not the big woman's weight, it's the "justice" system for not

Generally speaking, super-morbidly obese people have a caregiver who is also an enabler preparing foods for them. It's really sad.

Addiction is addiction, whether you're on heroin or massive quantities of food. Only the deal with food addiction is that, in many ways, it's harder to kick than other addictions. With most addiction, you just kick the substance/habit completely... obviously you can't do that with food. Imagine telling a meth addict

It's a really sad level of food addiction. I remember watching one of these shows once where super-morbidly obese people were presented with how much food they eat in a day (the quantities were horrifying). For most of the people, it was a very emotional, revelatory moment. But for one man, seeing all the food in one

i always wonder about that when it comes to people who are extremeley obese (as in 800+ pounds) when a person is no longer able to lift their own arms, how do they continue to gain weight or even maintain that weight? either they're suffering from a medical condition that i don't know anything about (which is likely)

*SPOILER if you were avoiding the link to the article* It's really sad that people will judge this woman for being fat far more than they will judge her sister for murdering a child.
