I grew up in that area..... the apartments were small, and as time went on, were split smaller. San Francisco wins at space.

San Francisco is the only US city I can think of where the cost of living index is higher than here, so I can certainly empathize with sky high cost of living crushing families out.

I'm tempted to fly down to Virginia next Halloween, to take my nieces and nephews trick or treating and see the amazing this is up close.

I was thinking more along the lines of Los Angeles (due to folks passing through for the various entertainment business related jobs as Hollywood grew) and Las Vegas (similar rush of people in mid century for the boom in casinos and construction) where people flooded in, but few stayed for long periods.

The humming and the playing music on cellphones without headphones are rage inducing.

Too much noise, too many people, expensive and dirty?

YES! I am glad it was all I imagined it to be. You just made my day.

~Puts this on my make up wishlist, as it meets my criteria for both brightness and my own application laziness~

Please tell me suburban trick or treating is as awesome as it sounds.

Pretty please let me know how the grey sesame works out.

I haven't tried that one yet, as I tend to buy inexpensive lip pencils and liners, and spend on the lipsticks.

Did they ever fix that see through (and we'll give you embarrassing hell for trying to return them) problem?

I just get playful and act equally curious/dumbstruck about the fact that they came from a place that had proper house to house trick or treating, room for a slip and slide, owning a large dog or whatever super fun thing they got to do as a kid in their hometown, that isn't really the same thing here, or is less

My parents are both European and arrived to the LES in 1979, so yes.

I am also weirdly obsessed with the product still lifes. Just pools and crumbles of pretty sparkly color.

I love the still product shots of eyeshadow/nail polish and lipstick spilled out. So many pretty, shiny colors.

NYC is becoming a city of transplants. I get prodded like an exotic time traveler at bars or parties when I mention being born/raised here, or remembering the old version of North Brooklyn, Times Square, the LES and all the rest.

The old money, grew up in a classic 6, have names in the social register girls would, for sure. However, the UES is increasingly not their old money turf.

Black Honey is just okay to meh on me. In fact pretty much every clinique product I've tried (color/foundation or skincare) has been firmly in the land of ~shrug~

I just ordered some more indie brands(DNA, MBA,Etherelle) to test. I'm hoping one of the 3 is a solid formula, as each has great odd colors.
