I don’t think the picture is the most unflattering thing about coverage of him lately. ;)
Obviously one size does not fit all. I’m speaking of my experiences and the experiences of people I know, and the common thread of people who do come forward had a period when they tries to minimize what happened. I can’t say this is true of everyone.
What I got was a lot of people expressed to him that the story wasn’t funny to them, that they saw it as the assault that it was.
This is so powerful and relatable. I think a lot of us have treated bad things that have happened to us as a joke because we were not ready to face the truth of it. We think that if we don’t go there, if we make it a story we tell with a grin, that this means we’re okay, not traumatized, not victims.
I guess that’s one way to get on top of it, no pun intended.
That makes a lot of sense. I think I still have a very 1980s image of him in my mind, and that’s why I was, “Wait, isn’t he attractive in a quirky way as opposed to swoony-handsome?”
I had no idea he was considered handsome until I read the article. I knew people found him sexy, but... The last time this happened was with Adam Driver. With Goldblum, I can see it now. Driver, not so much.
“Can you link to where you got that info from? I got mine from her memoir, and don’t recall a lot of that.”
I gave a whole list of the reasons she came forward, the number of people who told her it was true, her own experiences, and her brother’s response. I don’t find her horrible at all for, knowing what she knew, seeing what she saw, hearing what she heard, her choice to separate herself from him and speak to the…
I find it fascinating that apparently a small percentage of the things people tell him apparently registers at some level, and if he is told something every single day, eventually he begins to grasp it, a little.
Not being able to prove doesn’t mean it didn’t happen, it only means the proof would be in outing his victims or their parents. I’m guessing the argument would then be his victims had no proof. Same as it ever was.
Multiple people told her it was true, and when confronted about it he said “I do what I do.”
I see a whole series of posts from you, wasted on complaining about your posts not showing.
She suspected her brother was a pedophile, she tried desperately to get her family to acknowledge it, she went to the police, but could’t prove it, and she cut her ties to him. To me, that’s pretty courageous.
LOL, it is! Thanks! Since the updated the Hulu app it crashes all the time, and seems to bury my favorite stuff. Thanks again. :)
Ugh, I don’t have cable or dish, just Hulu, Netflix, HBO, and Starz. Normally I don’t care, but I miss this show!
