A friend’s mother has a set of these square copper pans. She was attracted by the no-stick surface and the low cost. They warped after about two months of average usage. On her flat electric cooktop, they’re now worthless.

While he didn’t get into Berkeley, he did get accepted to Cal Poly as well as Cal State San Marcos. UC schools in California (especially Berkeley) are notoriously difficult to get into, particularly for non-CA residents. I’m sure he’ll do well wherever he goes. I’m looking forward to watching him help change the tide.

CDC says chopped:

Also, why do meat-eaters think they’re the only ones that get to enjoy the whole ‘burger experience’ exclusively? I no longer eat meat, but still enjoy a good burger — soft bun, crunchy lettuce, oozy cheese, tang of a good mustard, accompanied by crispy fries – why can’t I have that? I’m not blasting anyone else’s

I can’t watch Mr. Jelly eat his runny eggs in the morning. Makes me gag.

This! Even just a tiny bit of cilantro leaf will ruin a meal for me. And it so often isn’t called out on a menu. I’ll send something back because cilantro wasn’t mentioned on a menu and my meal is covered in it. It’s a polarizing ingredient that a good half of the population dislikes. Why can’t restaurants recognize

I’m with you on the egg thing. Out to breakfast one time, where 98% of the menu was eggs, I asked the server if there was anything available without eggs. She said, “we have French Toast.” Head, meet table. I had juice for breakfast that day.

So glad to hear this! Mr. Jelly gave me a pasta maker recently, and we’ve been enjoying figuring out different recipes & sauces. We use it (at most) once a week, but now perhaps more often.

Regarding your point 1 - Montessori is expensive. It is most likely not an option for lechat. But please don’t knock it. I would recommend it for toddler on up if it fits in the budget. They don’t spend all their time playing — for that age, playing is learning. Jelly Jr. went to Montessori starting at about 30

Non-competes are void in California. Many things are wrong with this state but it does several things to protect employees. Such as a ban on tipped wages for servers. Servers get minimum wage. Also, many companies impose a ‘use it or lose it’ clause on earned vacation days; in California, that’s illegal. You earn it,

I’ve heard Joanna reference a babysitter several times. As well, her parents are local (not sure about his) and she’s mentioned her mom watching the children. It doesn’t appear to me to be something they’re hiding.

Or at Charming Charlies, aka Claire’s for grown-ups.

Another alternative is mixing the packet with European-style yogurt (not as thick as greek / icelandic) and use a little milk to get it to the desired consistency.

I’ve never seen a Siggi’s commercial. But I love the plain non-fat version, and I add fresh blueberries. Fage is my second. All others are skippable.

I don’t care for American scotch (and a lady on the label isn’t going to change that), but I’ll take a good single-malt from Scotland anytime.

“Solution One” assumes everyone is dining out near their homes. It isn’t practical when traveling. I’m not going to take a doggie bag of food back to a hotel room, regardless if I have a refrigerator in there or not. I’ll order a small salad and something off the appetizer menu to ensure I’m not wasting food.

The idea of some clueless kid getting the idea to secretly expose another kid to their allergen is pretty fucking terrifying if you think about it (particularly because kids don’t understand how severe they could be).

Same here - sold fashion shoes (different department than casual/athletic) at a high-end department store for a while and the absolute crap customers would bring back and expect a full refund was appalling. Some brands we didn’t even carry, all were worn, none were in boxes — but management would refund.

A bit of context here, as it isn’t spelled out in the article. I’m familiar with this area, and it’s not within the city limits. Also missing is probably what the HOA didn’t want to blatantly state: this neighborhood has more than its fair share of crime and drugs. Most of these properties are rentals. The HOA may be

I love Invisibobbles! I have long hair and I use one at night for a loose bun on top of my head. It doesn’t tear my hair out in the morning and there are no visible band marks. Also — Scrunchies — I’ve been wearing the smaller kind made by Scunci, not as much fabric but still more gentle on my hair than any other type
