I have only just, in the last few months, begun to approach the point at which I am willing to accept the neologism “threequel,” but you can take “legacyquel” and . . . keep using it I guess because I’m old and wrong about everything.

But still alive, so that’s nice.

Hi, woke pedant checking in: Diverse is a word that describes sets of things. The cast can be described as diverse, for example, but an individual would not be, typically. If you mean non-white, that’s fine, everyone will understand what that means. Or, you could just not mention it at all since films and TV shows with

Yeah, that’s the vibe I got most from this trailer, lots of that good old eXistenZ squick. Fleshy machines inserted into ports and whatnot.

I mean, sure, you’ve got some big names in the mix, but it seems like the majority of casting announcements in the last couple of years have been people like Xoxitl Gomez, Kumail Nanjiani, Will Poulter, Teyonah Parris, Simu Liu, Don Lee . . . Not unknowns, for the most part, but far from A-listers.

I honestly thought James Marsden was a very good fit for that role, but yeah, with the budget, Top Gun era Cruise would have been perfect.

He was the heart of that cast. Such a believable, warm performance.

Oh shit, right. Man, what a waste. I hope they find another role for him down the road, even if it’s not in FF.

My fancast is the best fancast.

Reed: Sterling K Brown
Sue: Jurnee Smollett
Johnny: Justice Smith
Ben: Eddie Kingston (Not an actor, but perfect for the role, if he can act at all.)

I definitely felt for Mount in that scene. Like, happy for him to get a foot in the MCU proper, but man, I’m sure he wants to put that whole Inhumans debacle behind him.

That is 100% the case for most folks, which is why I threw in the caveat about not trusting HR. I’ve had exactly one good HR head in my 25 year professional career. Beyond that, it’s almost always someone in management’s spouse or sibling, which automatically makes them the enemy.

I’m currently in a situation where a

Man, you’ve got to talk to HR about this. Unless you don’t trust HR (a situation I’ve found myself in) or there is no HR dept, in which case I’d encourage you to seek employment elsewhere. I know that’s easier said than done, but, man, my dad worked for a dude like that for 15 years, and I sincerely believe that the

Yeah, for sure. The Sex Pistols’ entire existence was performatively punk.

I guess it was actually butter he was shilling for.

Hatred seems to manifest itself physically

Stuck in an annual cycle of being outraged that Devo was skipped over yet again, and then remembering that the Hall of Fame is nothing more than a towering monument to Boomer irrelevance.

Oh man, I wore that flexi-disc out.

That margarine shilling MAGA shithead can shove his punk bona fides where the sun doesn’t shine, as far as I’m concerned.

Charlie Kaufman started off on Ned & Stacy and The Dana Carvey Show. David Simon’s first writing credit was something called George Burns Comedy Week. Coppola’s first directing credits were nudie cuties with titles like Tonight For Sure and The Bellboy and the Playgirls.

B-movies and genre pictures have always been
