As an E39 M5 owner, I grudgingly agree. However, being that it is a bored and stroked M62 with hotter cams, it is pretty reliable. It’s not highly stressed like the S65 and S85 (same engines give or take 2 cylinders). Mine has close to 200k on it now and runs like a top. Granted, it’s not a 2000 model..

They aren’t great for stage 4 anything. That means it has spread to other organs and is inoperable. I wish him the best. Sad to hear

I used to shimmy on my belly and sometimes my back through the wings of these fixing fuel leaks, pumps, lines, etc. Never worried about a catastrophic failure even when crossing an ocean. These things are the Mercedes W123s of the aviation world.

I’m sure there will be aftermarket tunes for this along with downpipe/exhaust and intake mods that will take this car well over 400hp for just an extra $1-2k.
