I saw a great bumper sticker the other day which I'll repeat here: Don't agree with abortion? Don't get one!

Ding, ding, ding!!! Give the woman a prize for the best (and sadly most truthful) answer!

Excellent point. Because women are dirty, dirty walking sinners-to-be (because we have...that thing between our legs that I can't even write, it's so shameful). Women should always be ashamed of...that thing...which can lead to awful dirty things. I wish more women would understand that so we can all get on with our

I know what you mean. While women can now do historically male dominated things—like vote, own property, have a job—in other ways, we still have a long, long way to go.

Right! I swear, it felt like people might actually believe that stuff when they'd give me unwanted advice or make not-so-kind comments during my pregnancies.

While some (arguably more progressive) doctors say drinking very small amounts of alcohol during pregnancy is fine, my point wasn't about the particulars of what others say to pregnant women. It's more how everyone feels they have a right—even obligation—to educate these fetus-carrying humans on what's best for them.

"I guess there's a sub set of guys who literally think women are there for the picking?"

Oh, I hear you. And so sorry you had to deal with that past abusive relationship.

Having been a long-time Doctor Who fan (and feminist), I'm curious what you hate about Moffat's depiction of women?

No worries about the menz hard-earned tax dollars being wasted! See, only a very small number of kits are ever tested. They never test kits in these common scenarios (because the rape didn't happen!):

My guide for Being a Good Parent:

Yes, I see your point. We do have this mentality of not wanting to offend anyone. Sadly, I feel I have to do this at work, because I believe no one wants to hear me rant on about how a fertilized egg doesn't deserve the same rights as a full-grown woman. Our society is so divisive, people are even afraid to speak

Very interesting point. Is the notion that's it "rude" for ladies to talk politics from personal experience? Is that message more comment for women living in blue states?

Outwardly, yeah, they think it's murder. But internally (and likely subconsciously) I believe hardcore pro-lifers/anti-choicers really hate how "progressive" our country has become in the last fifty years: end of Jim Crow, women can work outside the home, hormonal BC, and (gasp!) a black president, just to name a few

Rape Culture, ftw! Treating women more and more like property Every Day!

I heart you!

Excellent comment. Seven months after having my second child, and I'm still staring longingly at my pre-pregnancy pants that I can barely fit up to my knees. I mean, seriously, how the fuck do people think real moms could do it? I work full-time, I have a very attention-demanding baby, a boisterous toddler, a husband,

OMG, this is absolutely chilling. How could someone—a public official—actually say these things out loud? Is he TRYING to be the poster boy for, "This is rape culture"?
