My mom's the reason I'm on antidepressants (and I'm not talking about genetics—it was her constant emotional abuse). Narcissistic/selfish/horrid moms ftw! :-(

Thanks for the great post. When my daughter was a newborn, I got so sick of hearing people tell us how much harder it would get when she was older. You know what? My daughter's 2 now, and while she is a bundle of energy and loves to run around and get into everything, don't miss the night wakings, the frequent

So true. I was really hoping Tara wouldn't be an annoying "Angry Black Bitch" this season, but alas, all she's capable of is acting helpless and/or angry. So one dimensional. Ball—get more black folks on your writing staff!

The asshole ego-maniacal artist is actually a vampire. You're right. It makes perfect sense now.

Spoiler: In the book, just biting a man won't turn him into a full panther but more of a half panther/half man thing and only during the full moons. It seems in the show they don't follow that rule, so I'm pretty certain Jason will be turning full panther when the full moon hits.

I could not agree more. Do the men running these studios honestly believe women don't like porn or don't enjoy watching it? So frequently I get disappointed watching videos that are always from the male perspective and almost exclusively focus on his pleasure. It gets so monotonous and irritating. And so not a turn

The formula for porn usually goes: "BJ, bit of foreplay to please woman (maybe), BJ, intercourse, BJ, intercourse is more positions that showcase action, shot of man coming on woman's face." OMG, this gets OLD people! Make something different, please!

Can I please has all of the black and white kittehs? Thank you.

I would so love to see David Hewlett in more productions—he's an amazing actor. His portrayal in the SG Atlantis episode Shrine had be crying like a baby. There, I admitted it.

Please don't be so hard on yourself. Women in our society are taught over and over and over again that we are meant to please men. We don't hear nearly enough that if a man is disrespecting us or being unkind to us, that's when we should leave him in the dust. No, instead, if a man is rude/mean/disrespectful to us,

This was totally me when I was pregnant with my daughter—I was so ravenous all the time! It's crazy how hungry you get while pregnant (although actually, when I was breastfeeding I was even hungrier). This time around, I'm trying for a healthier weight gain, and being vegan, all those foods I was addicted to the first

Yesterday on a whim my husband and I decided to visit Manhattan Beach (coastal LA county). We walked the pier, ate at a great restaurant and enjoyed the 75 degree non-humid sunny weather and gorgeous beach and mountain views. And then drove 10 minutes to get home. Hmmm, sure is awful living here.

I don't have the option of using a midwife or birthing center where I am—at least if I want insurance to pay for it. So unless I opt for a home birth (which isn't for me), I'm stuck in the hospital.

/slow clap

I should have realized when I started talking about my daughter, many folks would jump in with their own two cents. Our society seems to relish telling moms how to raise their kids! (That's meant to be a general point, I'm not trying to villainize anyone here.)

Agreed. Why are certain words so taboo anyway? I try to curb my language in front of my 2-year-old, but she's already picked up the nuances of when to use the f-word, and occasionally uses it herself! Example: she accidentally stubs her toe, and she'll say "ouch, fuck!" Just like her mommy. Sigh.

I completely agree, but then I have to remind myself that the real reason men do these things is to shame women for having sex. These men are also sexually repressed d-bags who think if they can't enjoy sex, no one should.

I totally agree with you. But we need to remember these anti choicers don't really give a rat's ass about women. They're much more interested in punishing us slutty whores who dare to have sex, while men, of course, have no responsibilities and bear no shame within the anti-choice paradigm. Anti choicers could care

It's obvious you've never breastfed a baby and clearly have no idea what you're talking about. I breastfed my daughter for 2 years and pumped daily for a year while I continued working.
