Many thought the 1st was the greatest game of all time and yet Half Life 2 managed to match that accolade. The length 1 & 2 is longer than 2 & (episode?) 3, sure, but back in 2000-2004 the hype for Half Life 2 was just as bad.

Pretty sure the same was thought about Half-Life 2. Look how that turned out.
