The original article is way better than the Lifehacker article and headline would suggest. The water cup trick is just the cheap headline (Lifehacker, please don't emulate Upworthy!). David Cancel is looking to test what he calls HEART: "humble, effective, adaptable, remarkable, and transparent." The tricks aside, I

Over the years as a hiring manager, I learned to distinguish between tests that evaluate the candidate and those that make me feel clever for devising them. My interviews became more and more straightforward over the years and my hiring became better.

I think it's a rather broad stroke to say self-cleaning is universally ruinous to ovens. But I do have a story.

"We all have clutter, but some of us are much worse than others."

I was going to +1 you until I saw that you use it because you like flavored creamer. Eww. You panda murderer!

Though this one happens to be only 1.3' long, we don't see $8 MFi-certified Lightning cables very often. Depending on your needs, that size could be perfect for traveling or for using in the car.

No. What Fran or franalan.com tested is — well, not much. She just followed one procedure and there was nothing to compare it to. In particular, she did not try it with and without rinsing. I am skeptical that rinsing has any effect. The claim "reduced by 50%" is just from some picture on the Internet — Franalan did

One more thing that's missing is technique. They need to be mixed way more than most people realize at first, because the goal is not just to mix, but to break up the oil into micro-droplets, which make for thick, creamy dressing. Classic is to whisk the ingredients but to do so properly takes a lot of arm muscle. I

Definitely agree that any recipe is a starting point but I wonder why the author didn't use the classic recipe as the starting point? It's classic for a reason. Many practitioners use 3 or 4 parts oil to 1 part vinegar; Julia Child used 5:1!

I like the idea of a mix-and-match to help folks formulate dressings that will taste better than purchased dressings (and more closely match dinner). But the proportions are wrong.

I like the mix-and-match approach to making something that will generally be tastier than store-bought dressings, but the proportions are wrong. Oil to water-based-ingredients should be 3:1. 30% acid will be too sour and the consistency will be thin with just 60% oil. I suggest 3 parts oil, 1 part that is acid plus

I don't need this. I have a floor and a dog.

True. View HF as a tool rental that doesn't require you return the tools when done.

In the San Francisco Bay Area, we're blessed with many great coffee shops but I am not completely won over by Philz Coffee both for buying a cup of coffee and for beans to bring home.

Peet's and Starbucks both over-roasted, in my opinion, losing much of the complexity. That said, Peet's is fresh and high quality. Their medium roasts (Cafe Domingo and Solano) are very good. Still over-roasted to my taste, but much better.

Great tip.

My favorite headphone mod is giving it a short cable (about 2-1.2 feet) and building a separate longer extender cable. The short length is good for mobile use, with my phone in my pocket. I use the extender when using the headphones at my desk.

Ah. Looks like TeamViewer 8 supports OS X 10.5. Happy.
