Oh my god VOICEMAIL. Voicemail is the absolute worst thing ever! Getting a text you can quickly read and reply to later is so much better than having to sit and listen to a whole voicemail.

I don’t know, I think it’s a problem that he texts her “how is your day?” and then ignores her response. He begins a conversation and then immediately drops it, which is rude. This is not her texting him first and then complaining about him not replying—he begins the conversations and then flakes on out of them.
Remember the old joke: “naw, at least an asshole has a purpose.”
I agree-ish, but I’d walk on eggshells around HR. Don’t forget that HR is there first and foremost for the company. If LW is in a temp position this could backfire and not get her in the running for a permanent position or just be let go. I think depression can be categorized as a disability (?) so it might be illegal…
I’d agree, except that she says he’s texting first. If she was texting him all the time while he’s at work or whatever, not responding makes sense. But if he’s initiating the conversation, then completely going off the radar as soon as she replies, I’d get annoyed too.
That sounds like a literal nightmare to me. I love texting, but part of the reason I love it is that I detest talking on the phone. And I hate making plans on the phone where everyone is hemming and hawing and trying to be polite instead of just putting their thoughts out there. Also... you have a clear written record…
To LW2 - have you seen a therapist and can you also contact your HR department?
I think the problem is one she also alludes to; that it’s not always applicable or appropriate to call. If you’re making plans for a happy hour or night time hangout, but you’re at work all day where its easy to text but hard (and doesnt reflect well on you) to be hopping on personal calls, then yeah, it’s…
I think I got it wrong. It’s only a deal-breaker when it involves underage boys.
...I see he was only planning on a two day work week.

AND there will probably be leftovers for the hangover gorging the next day!
Smorgas all the way. Fight me in the comments.
no, actually i don’t.
I imagine it would be one long breakdown. I hope he had alcohol/some other soothing substance to help him along.
I think one of the best burns is the “repeating Fake News” in reference to the far-right rumor mills.
“have you ever seen the people at a trump rally?”
“This doesn’t make sense or pass intellectual muster” is A+++++++ and will become my new default retort to bullshit peddlers of all stripes.
Someone should write a book about Trump and call it “ Citation Needed”.
Huh. Half-assed Oscar Wilde by way of Perez Hilton marinated in some bullshit about benevolent trolling? Winning prose, here.
