HIGH FUCKING FIVE. I have always been firmly pro-choice but pregnancy and motherhood has made me MILITANTLY pro-choice. I love my child and love spending time with her but this is really hard and not something anyone should ever be forced or coerced into.

wait a minute ... are you telling us that some of these Christians are HYPOCRITES? well goddamn, that explains a lot

Unless she screws up, I don’t see why she’d be any less likely to win than would Franken. The same Dems and progressives that came out for Franken should come out for her, unless she does something regressive or stupid. And as for moderates and conservatives, I doubt very seriously any of them ever voted for Franken

exactly. that’s the elephant in the room that this article doesn’t address.

Largely they don’t - they let their preachers do it for them. But even if they did, the Bible is a smorgasbord of contradicting sound bites.

I trust that voters will recognize that the Franken did the morally correct thing by stepping down, and the Democratic Party did the right thing by supporting that. Further, voters will recognize that progressives and the Left in general represent the best hope for righting many of the political, moral, and fiscal

Exactly. Because if you actually care about reducing abortions, you do that through universal healthcare, comprehensive sex education, good access to contraceptives, decent wages, social supports that make it possible to raise children... all the things pro-choice Democrats support. Abortion rates go down under

It is ridiculous that abortion is such an issue considering it is not even in the bible and they blanket it under “Thou Shalt Not Kill”.

It’s mostly this. Down the page, someone posted a stat that showed that non-evangelical white women voted overwhelmingly for Jones. It’s so stupid, but that said, the Jezebel article makes it seem like its about a whole lot of things that it may not be about.

That said, I’m never surprised when people vote their

I cannot CANNOT understand how a woman, especially a mother, can be anti-abortion. There was nothing that solidified my already firmly held pro-choice beliefs more than pregnancy and parenting.

I was much younger then (19), and quite upset because I had never really disappointed my parents. I’m older now, and I know she’s a narcissist who says and does a lot of things for attention, so now I just roll my eyes and ignore it.

This is how you turn a shit sandwich into a hotdish!

I grew up in Mississippi and this is accurate. NOTHING I did or said broke my mother’s heart more than me being pro-choice. I distinctly remember her saying she failed as a mother and a Christian woman.

I spoke to my sister-in-law yesterday, a highly-educated heart nurse in Huntsville. She told me that she went to the polls and only voted for the local issues, leaving the Senate options blank, telling me that of course she couldn’t vote for Moore but the abortion issue kept her from voting for Jones.

The issue that democrats need to understand though - if they changed their platform and became the party of 100% prohibition no abortions for anyone - the republican purse strings would simply move the goalpost.

But the bible is pro-abortion:

Ugh... Because a mass of tissue should have more rights than fully formed human beings. This will never compute in my brain. I have quite a few family members that fall lock step into that mindset, too. And they don’t even attend church regularly.

Did you ever try asking them what Jesus had to say about abortion?

voting base is shrinking faster than Roy Moore’s dick at turning-20 birthday party.

Of course they are: they just lost a senate race in fucking Alabama. They’ve utterly poisoned the well for an entire generation that’s going to be voting for the next 50+ years, while their own voting base is shrinking faster than Roy Moore’s dick at turning-20 birthday party.
