If I may ask, in what way? I'm not going to defend some of the crappy writing of force awakens but I felt like that movie strongly defined the new characters enough that I want to see them again.

I always saw that as Han just reverting back to what he enjoys doing most. Sure he was always one mere step ahead of death, but he still had Chewie and seemed to be doing okay. I assume he spent a decade or two supporting Leia's efforts and just drifted away after Ben went nuts.
I'm curious to see this movie a second time. On first viewing my feeling was "If the movie had spent less time on original trilogy fan service and maybe had an original character worth giving a damn about, then it would be a substantially better movie".
"Hey Marty! I liked Kundun!"
My hat is off to whatever genius at Disney appointed "When you wish upon a star" the offical Disney theme song. No other song better encapsulates the idea of that company.
To me, Hercules is an average movie that's phenomenally well cast. James Woods alone elevates that movie dramatically. The greek gospel chorus was a real masterstroke for giving that dull plot some incredible personality.
Jungle book isn't the greatest disney musical but piles of animated movies would kill to have even one song as well written and performed as "Bare Necessities" or "I wanna be like you"
Tony Jay sells the literal hell out of the pitch black darkness of "Hellfire"
I like to think that Team America kind of decimated the cliche "we need a training montage!" but Mulan's version is untouchable. Nothing can get eliminate the hilarious passion of "I'll make a man out of you!"
Personally, I find Armie Hammer to be a very cold performer. Not that he's bad just that he always feels really distant. UNCLE takes great advantage of him as an actor by having him play a comedically cold and efficent KGB officer. He gets a lot of great deadpan humor out of that film.
I think UNCLE needed just two minor things to be significantly better.
He's the kind of actor who can do so much with very little screentime. He was recently in an Australian drama film called "Jasper Jones" and Weaving is probably only screen for about five minutes but…oh man…his character just soars to life with Weaving's utter commitment.
Did you see The Man from UNCLE by chance? Not a great film by any stretch, but the film as a whole is kind of charming and cool. Cavill showed a lot of relaxed charm in that. He'll never win an Academy Award but if he's cut loose and allowed to eventually play a more chilled Superman he'd probably do pretty well.
"I know I can leave anytime! I just really like money!" Henry Cavill winks at the camera.
The charm of willy wonka is that he always was most likely a serial killer who just made up the whole golden ticket nonsense purely to lure in wealthly children he could have the pleasure of murdering.
"Wow we sure are fanastic aren't we?" "Hey let's call ourselves-" IMMEDIATE CUT TO END CREDITS.
Hugo Weaving has bailed back to Australia to make a ton of local stuff instead. I read he was getting tired of Hollywood. Which is lovely for us Australians who get to see him in lots of local movies but less lovely for Marvel fans who really deserve more Hugo Weaving.
"The monkey does not masturbate merely to pleasure himself. He does it to show the zookeeper than he is not under anyone's control"
Hollywood just really seemed to love "Rock N Rolla" and is thus adamant that they make Toby Kebbell a thing.
Mads helped give us Hannibal and for that alone, he's earned a lifetime pass.
