I wondered about that fighting game thing, too, but it's definitely from a "Toyman forces Superman and Batman to fight each other as his personal video game" scenario. You can see the gizmos controlling their bodies and the young Toyman is elsewhere in the trailer (0:30).

I'm almost certain they do? I know what you're talking about, and I think they quietly killed that no overprint policy several years ago.

I don't think tonal mismatches in crossovers like this are a big deal. You adjust the characters so they're more in-sync, or you lean into the dissonance and make it part of the humor like the animated TMNT crossovers have done.
