To be honest, you should probably just use handbrake and convert it down to SD before you load onto the phone. Yes it's annoying and takes some time but there really isn't any point trying to play back 720p or 1080p MKVs on a screen which is only 960 x 540.

It works! Thanks very much for the update :)

In my experience, in Windows XP it's completely unreliable.

I have a JBL dock and when I put my iPhone 3G into it, a message would pop up telling me that the dock was unsupported and asked whether or not I wanted to put the phone into Airplane Mode. In the morning, as soon as I lifted off the fully charged phone, it would switch back to normal mode.

To be honest, I'm not sure why everyone is wound up about iPad 3. Given that once you ignore rumour and speculation (which is nearly always wrong) the only thing we have to go on is Apple's past history - and based on that, the iPad 3 will come along about this time next year.

I've had my own domain name for well over 10 years and in that time I've changed email provider three times (now with Google Apps). No-one has noticed the change, I've not had to update any website profiles nor have I had to mass email out telling everyone about my new email address.

I'm not entirely convinced that it is within Microsoft's culture to deliver a software update quicker than once a year. IE, Office, Windows and Windows Mobile all had yearly (or greater) cycles. Only the Xbox team seem to be able to manage it and I'm guessing that's because they are testing on a reasonably single

I read "less than 11 point" to mean "10 point or smaller".

The "Start" in the Start Menu always meant "Start here to do something", one of the "something" being shut the computer down. It did actually make sense!

Good idea - unfortunately I wasn't capable of hindsight at the time I installed the update :)

I know that the iPhone 3G isn't supported (and I'm fine with that) but it would have been nice for Apple to release a final update which fixed the speed issues that 4.x brought.

Buy yourself a duvet. Much easier to make in the morning :)

Additional things I've bought for the Wii: 1 wiimote (£20), 1 nunchuck (£10), 2 motionplus accessories (£30), the official HD component cable (£15, as I'd seen poor reviews of the unofficial ones) and 4 spare rechargeable AA batteries (£10). Total amount was £85 which is just over half again of the original cost of

That's not quite true. I have an iPhone 3G and iOS 4 is offered for it (albeit crippled because the hardware isn't powerful enough to handle multi-tasking).

Depends on the attitude of the company. Are you paid for the results that you deliver or for the time you are sat at your computer?

Same thing applies. If you desperately need the space, then delete the backups. But if your SSD has 1GB free and you don't need to immediately use that space, then there is no point deleting it. Just wait until you do.

As I pointed out on HTG, unless you /desperately/ need the disk space then don't bother.

Android 2.2.1 as provided by HTC. I'm not using any third party SMS applications, custom ROM's or anything else fancy like that. I'll try a factory reset over the weekend and see if that changes anything.

No I didn't and useful to know. Thanks!

I'm using an HTC Desire HD.
