I use a vbscript to do pretty much that. However I'd recommend including —ipod-atom to your command line which allows the entire range of iPods to be able to view the file (rather than giving an "Invalid public atom" error).

Nice one, thanks.

Agreed. I probably should have put the word successful in quotes.

If you aren't averse to paying for a tripod, then I'd recommend the Joby Gorillapod. It's major selling point is the fact that it can be wrapped tightly around pretty much anything.

Many of the successful people I know that get up super early leave the house before their children wake up and get home after their children have gone to bed. I suppose it all depends on how much you value spending time with your children.

I would be surprised too but for the reason that they would prefer people used EAS - which is (of course) Microsoft's own protocol and they can demand licence fees from third parties to use it. IMAP doesn't make them any money.

Bear in mind that Outlook.com doesn't support IMAP. Microsoft have promised that they are looking into it (http://gizmodo.com/5932972/talk-to-the-outlook-engineering-team-right-here-right-now) but doesn't guarantee anything.

Every company I've worked in has a fixed time of the year when performance reviews are done. Personally I would recommend negotiating your salary before you sign the contract rather than attempting to do so afterwards.

There is just something about a beautiful watch too...

Does a chronograph watch count as a gadget? If so, then mine is way more expensive than any desktop, camera, television or laptop I've ever owned.

Sorry but Mark Russinovich, of SysInternals, has debunked your rule as a "useless formula". See http://blogs.technet.com/b/markrussinovich/archive/2008/11/17/3155406.aspx for details. In short, it's actually set correctly and you are setting it incorrectly - which explains why every you think every machine is wrong :)

Now playing

Visa has a product called CodeSure which is exactly this but with an e-ink display. Launched about 2 years ago and available in a number of countries.

DCC also occurs on purchases with a credit or debit card at a merchant. If you say "yes" to paying in your own currency there, then you're (again) at the mercy of the merchants own bank's exchange rates. In short, always pay in the local currency for everything and let your own bank do the currency exchange.

Do people really have hydrogen peroxide just lying around? And given that bleach is less than £1 (~$1.59) and lemon juice is more expensive - is it really worth the effort?

The Zalman looks quite nice but is rather expensive. I picked up this IOMAX caddy for £8 (approx $13) and it not only looks good, but seems to work well too. Only downside is that it isn't USB 3. http://bit.ly/Pe3hbP (bitly link because the original URL doesn't hyperlink properly here)

Fair enough. Can't say that looking at a motherboard and a CPU fan is my cup of tea - but to each his own.

Well done you on being able to put something 9.13" x 18.27" x 20.59" on a desk without looking odd! Have a cookie.

You want to check out http://www.silentpcreview.com/Recommended_Fans which gives you all the info you want. I went with a Noctua NH-C12P which is small enough for non-ATX cases and was tested as quieter than some of the water based coolers.

I'd recommend connecting the CPU, PSU, memory and graphics card to the motherboard and testing that all your components work BEFORE you start assembling your PC. If your motherboard is broken, you'd want to know before you've screwed everything into the case - trust me!

ATX cases are, for me, just way too big and there is absolutely no point in having something that large. The advantage of mini-ITX is that you can put it on a desk next to your PC rather than on the floor as you would for ATX and even micro-ATX.
