The problem with the NYC subway is that some interchanges require you to come out of the subway, walk a block and then go back down again.

In Firefox:

Koh Samui airport in Thailand isn't quite as impressive as these mockups, but it's real and far nicer than any other airport I've ever been too.

@Arturo Goga: Assuming there isn't something out there that does this already, then this would be something I'd consider developing if I had the time.

Worth noting that it works like a charm for BBC content but not so well with ITV.

I'd disagree on the comment that you probably don't need to consider card speeds for a regular point-and-shoot.

@pz: The disaster that is cut and paste would be one I'd consider "pressing".

Whilst it's an interesting list, I'm not convinced.

Whilst the Android live wallpapers are rather pretty, I can't help feeling that the Google engineers should have been working on more pressing other issues that the operating system has - rather than a bit of eye-candy which could have come later.

@aThingOrTwo: The only really open thing you can claim about Android is that you can run any application you like on it (unlike, for example, iOS ones which need to be approved by Apple).

@Grégory Jourdan: Actually, I'm from Europe :) The point I'm trying to make is that, by all means, live within your means and spend wisely - but if it means ducking out of a round of drinks when it's your turn to pay, trying to avoid splitting the bill evenly just because although you all had the same, you had one

If you already have an HTC Desire then I'm not sure why you'd bother.

Whilst I'm all for making sure you don't overspend (and spend within your limits) it's worth pointing out that there is a fine line between being frugal and "that guy".

@Fliesen: Ignoring the fact the Mr Gruber is pushing his own very biased pro-Apple agenda, the Android operating system has always been "open" in the sense that it is open to handset manufacturers.

One of my previous roles was at a (non-US) network operator defining what applications we would pre-load onto certain devices.

Assuming he's got a 120GB iPod Classic, then a 64GB iPod Touch wouldn't be much of an upgrade - especially if he has to leave half of his music collection at home.

This is a great little tip and one I didn't know before.

It didn't happen because it would cost Apple a tonne of money and pain and result in a phone which unlike GSM, can only be sold in North America and South Korea.

My guess: the free bumper promo will run until September. By then, Apple will have rolled out a slightly updated version of the iPhone which has the metal strips coated in a material which means that the signal issues don't happen with a simple touch.

A lot of people are claiming that the Apple App Store is full of garbage.
