How could any reputable doctor look at the list of medications that Pacquiao took within the month leading up to the fight and not ask serious questions about the injuries/pain that warranted the medication? That doc whose sig graces the form should be in hot water, except I’m pretty sure this is more of an

Sold!

Thanks, slugger. I was referring less to Gregory’s case in particular than to the Cowboys’ proclivity to proclaim themselves the “right environment” for all manner of troubled TALENTED individuals, whether those troubles be true indictments of character (Hardy) or medical ailments (Gregory). See also Alonzo Spellman,

The Cowboys, bastions of morality that they are (right Greg Hardy?), also passed on Gregory. He just happened to be there the second time around.

I’m amazed at how many athletes, former athletes, and the like are so quick to defend Mayweather. I guarantee you if we saw a video a la Ray Rice they would shut right up.

I loved Manny’s flurries in the 2nd and 4th rounds. So he lost. Big deal. He made Floyd look like a scared child in those torrents of violence.

He had a pretty good neck punch later on too. Floyd definitely won the “power punches landed to obscure anatomical sites” category.

Pacquiao did fight very left-handed, and didn’t go to his right jab nor right hook nearly enough. This doesn’t prove anything, but suggests that it’s true. Wouldn’t have changed the outcome-he would’ve needed adderol to chase Floyd down-but maybe would’ve got to see him land a few more big shots on ol’ Felony Floyd.

Agreed, I don’t think the competitors need to concern themselves with the entertainment value of their athletic pursuit, just the competition aspect of it.

In theory, I totally agree. In reality, I would guess that ambiguities would creep in. I am certainly in favor of making more black-and-white rules in the sport, but God knows that professional boxing is the least cohesive and poorest self-policing of athletic endeavors.

So when did you stop beating your wife?

Probably, but I would like to know for sure. Incidentally, I think they should’ve gone an old-school 15 rounds just so the last few rounds wouldn’t be Floyd running around trying not to get hit (or at least there would be proportionately fewer of them).

+1-2 combination

I agree with you about refereeing; ultimately, rules cannot be enforced to the letter simply because referees are human and therefore will make mistakes. For instance, even if the rules said “The second clinch lasting longer than two seconds initiated and maintained by a fighter will result in an automatic deduction

Well, not for everyone who is new to the sport of boxing who tuned in thinking they were really going to see an amazing fight...as for myself, you’re probably right.

The greatest ever? Not a chance. If no one ever chased him around every fight would end a draw. You could’ve made an argument for Top 10 all-time in his prime, but he spent his prime not fighting the best prime competition out there.

The only Floyd fight I’d pay to see again would be against Gennady Golovkin. That dude will put him in the hospital.

Sooooo much of the boxing press, and the press in general, are sycophants to that a-hole. It really speaks poorly of our culture in general. “Look everyone-Ray Rice is a giant asshole! (but only because he isn’t the best RB of the current era) But Floyd on the other hand...”

Haha! If anything, this will make us talk even MORE about what a piece of shit he is.

Except when your ONLY goal is to win, you oftentimes toe the line of what the rules allow, testing the boundaries until one day you realize that you’re cheating. Your example of Popovich is a good one, but Belichick is now a serial cheater. Mayweather didn’t lapse into cheating, but his clinching in the first five
