Like, at least in my area, the public schools are certainly not as safe as the private schools (gang activity etc). That would be a tough trade off for me to make for the sake of my kid interacting with a group of more diverse classmates.

Only problem is, if the public schools are an actual safety hazard and horrific from an educational standpoint.
To me the solution isn’t so much individuals moving into poorer neighborhoods as it is making the school funding more equitable. If every school gets the same funding (adjusted for local economic conditions - NYC and rural Alabama shouldn’t get the same dollar amount), then where one lives potentially becomes more…
The biggest problem with US public schools isn’t “where should I send my kids?” That’s fairly unimportant in the grand scheme of things. The biggest problem is “where should I live and therefore support the public school with my property taxes?” Schools in poor neighborhoods really can only go so far because they’ll…
I went to a Catholic school in the US, where they are better funded than public schools... My school was still pretty diverse economically and racially. There are private schools out there that arent full of snotty rich kids, you just have to find the right one.
We’re in the Army and usually do the local public schools, but we did do a Catholic school for two years at one particular base because the local public schools had such a terrible, violent reputation, even at the elementary school level. I had to do a lot of soul searching about that, as my mom was a public school…
Yup. Another reason I’m all in for a Clinton/Warren ticket. I have several Bros in my circle who used “I’d vote for Elizabeth Warren” as proof that their blatantly sexist attacks on Hillary weren’t sexist. So I’d love to see how they’d respond to the actual opportunity to vote for Warren.
She and Clinton are friends and she actively encouraged her to run. I know her views are more closely aligned with Sanders, but he’s not particularly well liked (beyond his email and donor list, which everyone likes a great deal now), so I don't think this was a particularly reluctant endorsement.
Okay, this needs to stop. This assumption that Warren prefers Bernie “in her heart”. You don’t know that, you are projecting.
Short-sighted children. Idealism is wonderful, but don’t throw democracy out with the bath water, young’uns.
Also, I’m in the Sanders camp (as a supporter, not a worker) and anybody who has beef with Elizabeth Warren can go fuck themselves into a pile of goo.
It’s ridiculous. Still pro-Bernie, will vote for Hillary here. Elizabeth Warren could’ve endorsed earlier, and I think she treated both Bernie and HRC very well by not endorsing up to this point. But it’s totally done now. Sanders knows it’s done, and is pivoting against Trump. Of course she was going to endorse the…
Honestly, I’d rather see Warren stay in the senate. We need her there! And I’d love to see another, slightly lesser known liberal dem get a platform too
This is the dumbest thing I've seen... The most important thing is to vote down ticket.... I show up every two years to vote to be sure I can pull that D lever all the way down (I just wish living in NYC, I didn't only have Shumer types to vote for)
Hilarious. What do these folks THINK she’s going to do? She’s a Democrat. This is politics. If Bernie had gotten the nom, she would have enthusiastically endorsed him. She probably likes Bernie better than she likes Hillary, honestly, and she’ll probably work closely with him to help the Dems adopt more-progressive…
But they all claimed “but I love Elizabeth Warren” to prove they weren't sexist.
Ugh. Predictable. Let’s remember that most of these people will come around, are trolling, or were never going to vote Clinton regardless of which candidate Warren endorsed. The remainder are stupid, and what can be done of that?
The level of vitriol already being thrown at her on Twitter by people in the Sanders camp calling her a traitor, immoral, corrupt, etc. is beyond. They really don’t give a shit. They’re treating this election like it’s a fucking football game.
“[Trump is a] loud, nasty, thin-skinned fraud who has never risked anything for anyone and who serves no one but himself,” she told the audience.
