It’s fitting for Christmas time too - there’ll be enough Check Engine Lights to light up a freaking xmas tree.

I had a MKV Gti for like 4yrs- sure they’ve gotten a bit faster and nicer but largely the same pros/cons in this debate.

I don’t have a Miata (driven the latest and it’s great), but I Traded the GTI in for a FRS when they came out and still have it.

SO, i had a similar choice to make years ago. For me it came down to I

I agree- I’ve NEVER been one to go to a meet. Not a fan of small talk with strangers, and would prefer to DRIVE than park.

But one of the clubs i’ve joined is a (mostly) autoX club, and aside from LOTS of cone dodging and skill improvement, i’ve met a lot of great people who are now legit friends as a result.

I actually like the Datsun here... If he were in something completely dilapidated like a yugo or whatever... The saleen would’ve just been an exorbitant display of luxury/excess.

BUT, since Bruce pines on with this ‘rough’ 280z, we see that he is a guy who would APPRECIATE the means/ability to have a supercar, not just

The idea that it WON’T cost well over 100k is lunacy...

Ive always loved this car. Screw skylines and every other import car people wish came to the U.S. THIS has ALWAYS been my #1 forbidden fruit dream car.

I agree with a lot of what you’re saying. I don’t really believe that ANYTHING that has come after the original books ended is very good, and starts watering down the franchise as a whole.

One thing I will slightly disagree with for conversation’s sake: I don’t really have a problem with the omission of a jewish

Caliber was awful. Same with the first 2 Chevy Aveo models. The last gen or two of the mitsubishi galant were just phoned in - awful as well.

IT’s too bad - it is just so-so looking, and they worried too much about door handles and not enough about marketing that it’s a really nice place to be inside.

I’ve always loved these. NP!

There’s some great cars left out of this list, obviously... But I tried to cover at least one option in most segments and made sure that most of the choices I kept in were at the upper or top of their segment.

Go shop for a used Wrangler, lol. Aside from air cooled porsches, the wrangler market makes the least sense in the world.

And 5-700 lbs less than that kia stinger. 340 will be lovely, and there could be a proper M version that will likely clear 400 so don’t worry about peak HP numbers. This thing will annihilate a stinger.

My uncle bought one the first year they came out (92/3?). I spent a fair amount of time in and around that car. LOOOOOVED it, and to this day have an irrational love for the 90's vipers.

Same with anything else, really -

There’s one like this really close to my home. It had been a traditional style overpass with on/off ramps for years, and they converted it to one like this about a year or two ago.

Keep it in the family with an Infiniti Q60 3.0t

I had two of these maximas when I was a teenager. First one was base model ‘89, which was traded in for a ‘91 SE which was JUST like this one (mine was gray with black leather though).

In college (like 99-00 or so) I built a pc using a functional mini-fridge instead of a tower. I just fabbed up mounts for the components - and it was extremely tolerant of overclocking!

I have never driven in, nor ridden in ANY tesla. I’m sure the whole acceleration thing is fun. I appreciate their efforts in the emerging electric car scene. I think the model S is a nice looking sedan and I TOTALLY get it’s appeal.
