It’s rarely ever mentioned, but in the comics Barbara/Babs (Batgirl) is actually Gordon’s niece that he adopts (but then in true comic book fashion they also reveal that he really is her father because of an affair).

Honestly that bothered me, considering she’s a teenager.

OR they adapt a version of the No Man’s Land arc from the comics for season 4...

You know, for a second I objected to the Barbara-fication of Lee. But then I thought about it, and honestly I’d be okay with it if Gotham turned literally every character into a villain. That really is what the show does best.

Too bad the show forgot she existed as soon as she fulfilled her purpose of “3rd member of Gordon love triangle.”

the virus effects are really well done”

Nah, he’s already The Executioner.

Dr. Leslie Thompkins has been in the comics as part of the extended Bat-family for quite a long time. She comforted Bruce Wayne after the death of his parents, stayed in his circle as a medical resource and friend, and even knows Batman’s secret.

That’s already been happening!

I don’t buy that. They just wrote Marissa dialogue, threw “mom” in a few times, and gave the dialogue to Grace. Then when Marissa reappeared, they switched the dialogue back over to her.

I continue to be baffled by this question.

I simply cannot fucking understand this sudden Howard spotlight. He was never even a real character up to this point - just used as the brunt of jokes or as a plot device. So for the Kings to suddenly decide to use him as the avatar/poster child for an ongoing story about ageism is absolutely befuddling.

“Do I look like ‘The Man’ to you?? I’m WEARING NAIL POLISH” just killed me.

Agreed. I didn’t buy that an ALL CAPS, hateful troll like The Awesome would have the emotional intelligence to explain his own shitty behavior.

So I’ve watched part of the first episode, and maybe my brain just involuntarily turned against the show when I saw “AwesomenessTV” in the opening credits, but I keep getting “obnoxious Youtuber” vibes off the 2 leads. Does this go away? Am I crazy?

I would argue that the peak of The Office was season 3 (nearly flawless), 4 was a slight step down, 5 was inconsistent but had some excellent episodes (I personally love the Michael Scott Paper Company arc), and then yeah, the real dropoff in quality came after that.

On the other hand you have “Stress Relief,” which does not have amped up sexual content, and is absolutely a high point for late Office episodes. Fast paced, hilarious, and double-length without overstaying its welcome.

Death and resurrection are so rote at this point, it’s basically a rite of passage for anyone trying to be taken seriously as a villain in Gotham. If I had any hope for this show to be good, I’d hate it; but as a batshit campy crapfest, it works.

*roaring applause*

Add Gabriel Byrne as the villains’ therapist and I’m in.
