He doesn’t hire people who tell him no or tell him he’s wrong. He thinks he’s a genius and he’s always right. It’s not that he can’t hire people who could tell him how to do all this stuff, it’s that he thinks he doesn’t need them.

He’s only failed if you think the purpose of the deal-making was to improve the situation for the manufacturing industries in North America.

Tesla should have hired Magna years ago. Not a competitor, not technically an “automaker” but damn near all the European automakers (and some NA automakers) use them to build their cars and build their factories. You get the knowledge without the baggage. Model 3 may have actually hit it’s schedule had they done this.

See for example, some of the startups Tesla folks left for.  One was to “re-invent the farm”.  I’m not saying a lot of these fields may not find some interesting improvements from a fresh eye, but I just don’t think tech bros will revolutionize farming.

I dunno. I’ve worked in a bunch of different car/truck plants and have toured others and the plant didn’t seem any work than others. At the beginning, it looked a little cluttered, but that’s because there was a supply cart refilling stations.
