@GregtheMad: Ah, okay, I'm not the only one who saw that. Good to know. I think...

When I look at it one way, I see a ping pong-playing sensei, but from another view, someone with a turkey on their head in a most disturbing fashion.

@SkyGriever: And there you have it: always read before you write. :( Although, to be fair, the game saw a US release this year. Thus I decree that Bayonetta is good enough for a double dose of Best Of-edness.

This list is good, but is sorely lacking in Bayonetta. Say what you will about dialogue and story, but the costumes and characters of that game were top notch. I'd go as far to say it is, for me, the best art direction of this generation of games. Also, Bayonetta is pretty. -__-

@Skychrono: Bayonetta was up there too. Best art direction in a game this generation, at least in my eyes.

@PATRICK SWAYZE 2.0: Psh, Patrick Swayze 1.0 would have conquered Super Meat Boy in a few tries, all while dancing with Jennifer Gray. Also, it doesn't take skill to win at SMB, it takes persistence. No skill level alone stands a chance against Dr. Foetus' diabolical evils.

@TimeNeverRests (PS1): Eh, I'd be fine with "People should believe what they believe in and not force those beliefs onto others." That is my main beef with Catholicism, and one practice that probably won't be ending soon.

This is instantly one of my favorite stadiums! ;_;

While I think the Pope should focus on other problems (ie: child molestation within the Catholic church's own ranks and a backwards stance on contraception that works against its own agenda), there are some good intentions spoken here. People devote so much time to living digital that they avoid the physical world

@trithleon: My "Other" vote was for Super Meat Boy. But, now that you mentioned it, it should have been for Super Mario Galaxy 2. Argh!

@Druffmaul: Well then, point to the Ico/SotC collection and smile! The past is the present is the future, and it's a term that especially applies to video games.

@Prinny1God: Phantasy Starcraft. Then again, maybe that's a bad idea.

@Kovitlac: I second/third/fourthorwhateveritsatnow Bayonetta for best new IP. It took the term "over the top" and went over the top of it. Granted it won't be everyone's cup of tea, it does what it strives to do best: provide mind-blowing action and art direction.

@mikelhk: Darn tootin'. I'd like to see Marston and Mason take on the dreaded "I screwed up five rows down and have to dig my way out" scenario. Guns and bravado won't save you now tough guys! O_O

Red Dead Redemption, simply because the sensation of taking out a bandit with a revolver while on horseback was the most satisfying experience I had all year in any of these games. But personal favorite game of the year? Super Meat Boy. I'm a sucker for nostalgia and masochistic game difficulty. :3

@UsernameOfTheDead: Activision would be foolish to not try to settle all of these lawsuits out of court. The only thing they have to lose is the crazy money that MW3 and any future CoD games are sure to bring in. Their popularity doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon, so legal delays would be lost profit, not

I'm a fan of the rev-down of blinking after this device is turned off.

@Alex Winton: I doubt there will ever come a time where crunch will be cut out completely, and it has it's place for the unplanned and to ensure as quality a game as possible. No, of course perfection is a myth, and besides, a lot of dev teams now have to focus on post-release patches and additional content. However,

Crunch shouldn't have to happen, at least not on the level of prevalence and scale that it does. Release windows and development schedules are often framed up far ahead of time. Still, it is tough to hammer out the exact amount of work a project will require before it can see release. It would be good for the
