In 1951 my dad, who was a professional pilot his entire adult life, bought a new Buick. He drove it straight to the local airport where an aviation mechanic installed four Cessna seatbelts. The car was never started until there was a click from each occupant. This was done with every car he bought until Detroit…
I can confirm from personal experience that those Buicks didn’t do so well with no brakes. Mine failed at night in the middle of nowhere later the same day this picture was taken. Luckily I was only five miles from home, so I took it slow.
I once researched the recall history of my 1986 Buick Electra, which I inherited from my parents. I was shocked by the number of issues. One, while not mechanical, was especially disturbing.
This is gorgeous. Why can’t modern cars look this good?
Lawless motors? I like it, I’m heading down to register Shady Auto Repairs, home of the 50/50 warranty, and I just found this haiku

Nice fastback Mustang Bentley! All in all cars this days look very similar. That doesn’t mean they took someone’s design and simply claim it as they own. Trends is what define eras. Look at the 1960s, 70s and 80s. You can easily tell what year a car is just by looking at it for the most part.
It would be funny if he works for Lincoln now.
I disagree. I didn’t see anything “Bentley” in the Continental concept. I think he was a bit sour that they made a design he would have “liked” to have at Bentley.
I have a very weak spot for the GAZ 24. It’s not “the best” (the 21 is a massively better car), but I think the looks are adorable. They also made a small run with a V8, known as the KGB Interceptor. One of them was for sale on mobile.de recently for 15000€. Driver 24’s are often available for ~2000€ in Eastern Europe…
That is quite sexy

The best part about a 780 as a first car is that if they break anything on it, they’ll get to live with the memory of that mistake forever since 99% of the trim pieces and body panels are unique to only that car and near impossible to find!
I saw a Ural motorcycle and sidecar on I-75 a few months ago, and after doing some research I really want one. A 2WD, three-wheeled motorcycle!!!
