Just watch the fight scene around the car in Police Story 1 and all’s forgiven.
According to this documentary apparently they were quite popular!

That’s pretty awesome. I’ve always loved the M-bodies - there’s something admirable about their stark lines, mustache-esque grilles, and smaller amount of sales as compared to the LTD Crown Vic and Caprice. If there’s a decent example out there one of these days when I finally get access to a garage, I’ll have to find…
That would be quite interesting, actually - I didn’t know they still made the sport variant, and it would seem to fit the Impala nameplate and role well.
I can only wonder what their plan is when its replacement comes due. The Impala limited only hung on for so long, and I would not be averse to seeing a police package for the current Impala.
It’s crazy that the Caprice didn’t have a column shifter to begin with. You’d think that GM would have figured that would have been mandatory.
I use the N1 myself and it’s quite a good camera.

Why can’t we have something with classic styling that looks this good in the US?
I currently drive a Crown Vic, so I am certainly aware of the gas struggle, haha. Thanks for the info - I’m glad to see they’re relatively reliable beasts.
I’ll have to pick up an older Econoline one of these days - I’ve always liked how they drive.
This reminds me of this clip, just for the sheer stupidity of the individual featured in it.
Pepper spray probably would have been a bad idea as it generally goes everywhere when used in a confined space.
Considering the vest he’s likely wearing plus all of the equipment, physical brawn surely is a bonus to have. I’ve seen guys that big run like there’s no fucking tomorrow too.
Landyachts with bench seats, column shifters, and wood grain kick ass. And I’m under 30!
If they didn’t give Solider 76 a tacky Christmas sweater then this is a missed opportunity.
