@Bucky Calloway,
@Bucky Calloway,
Y'know, the Spanish language version of the '31 Dracula is almost great. I can never get over just how much better the camera work is compared to Browning's. (Wish I could find a comparison of shots from the two versions. The final shot is a terrific example of how much better an understanding of framing and…
@Phantom Hugger,
I want to second the recommendation for Catwoman. Ed Brubaker is one of my favorite comics writers of all time, and I especially love the Catwoman issues he did with Cameron Stewart. (The writing was still pretty good after Paul Gulacy took over, but a) Gulacy's style was too much of a radical departure from what had…
Y'know, I've heard that Gail Simone's run on Wonder Woman hasn't been very good. Of course, I'm sure part of it has to do with all the changes to the character mandated by DC editorial. I also heard that Jodi Picoult's issues were even worse. While I'm not trying to say that the right female writer couldn't do an…
Thanks for posting the link, Innocent Passerby. There are some really excellent designs in there!
I'm sure there are several comic book fans who'd rather see films of Bendis's Alias or Ms. Marvel, but I can guaran-damn-tee you that the average person on the street has no idea who those characters are. (Many would also most likely roll their eyes at Spider-Woman's name alone.) Wonder Woman at least has name…
I don't think they'd necessarily have to go with the Kingdom Come-type armor. Maybe something more like this, sans helmet http://tinyurl.com/aqhh7l. Really, anything that uses a tunic would be preferable to the swimsuit.
He's a decent writer, though.
They already did make a musical version of The Wicker Man. It's the original 1973 version.
Yes, I've been so glad that Mastodon are starting to include actual singing in their songs. Remission's a great album, but there's just a feeling of sameness that settles in after a few songs thanks to the vocals.
My brother had me watch 2001 when I was 6 years old. I'm not sure how it happened, but I was fascinated. I did have to ask, though, why the spaceships didn't make any sound.
Oh, and they're another band that, like Incubus, should have ceded their name to a metal band.
Y'know, Worlds Apart isn't a bad album, but I usually only ever listen to "All White" (which has an awesome Bowie-like sound but is too short) and "Will You Smile Again For Me" (but mainly just for the instrumental intro and conclusion). Honestly, I wish they would incorporate more prog elements.
I swear, I only hit "Post" once.
