Curse of the Demon
Does anyone know if this will be the full version (usually with the Night of the Demon title card) or the shorter American release? Hell, I'll probably go either way, but it'd be nice to know beforehand in case I need to set myself up for disappointment.

So I think we can all agree that the '06 remake of The Omen was pretty much unnecessary and crap. What I thought might have made it more worthwhile was if they'd gone back to David Seltzer's earlier drafts, in which the demonic supernatural elements were far more overt. (Richard Donner convinced Seltzer to tone it

Inside sucked
Sorry, guys, but that thing had more leaps in logic than, ummm…a bunch of jumping Mensa folk? (Sorry, I'm a bit short on similes today.) Take the sequence towards the end where (SPOILER!!!!) the main character just so happens to find a) a flammable aerosol spray, b) an item she can use to give herself a

I must admit that the extended cut of Windtalkers actually improved the movie, but only from the standpoint that a mediocre film became a decent film. It still has its share of problems, but it sucks less with the added scenes.

I had a similar experience, Jings! My dad rented it to watch with my older brother, since Aliens was about to be released in the theater, and I thought I'd try to brave it. I actually made it to the chestburster scene before I checked out.

It's an incredibly stupid movie, but I must admit that I still have a soft spot for it.

Yes, X2 is indeed the best comic book superhero movie ever made. Anyone who doesn't think so has farty pants.

way off the mark on SDRE
I suppose it just comes down to what type of music one prefers, but since I'm a bit of a prog rock nerd, The Rising Tide will always be my favorite Sunny Day Real Estate album. ("Snibe" alone vaults it to the top of the list for me.)

You know, I sat through Brokeback Mountain thinking to myself the entire time, "Would it have killed them to have one scene where they eat pudding?" Then again, maybe they realized that people like me would have disturbed the audience by laughing, clapping and shouting "Yes!" before leaving the theater, feeling the

"What about "Empire"? Yay cops! Boo drugs!"

Ah, Sylvia Saint. I often wonder if she had been genetically engineered to be a porn star.

I count myself lucky to have caught it immediately after its initial video release. Divorced from all the hype, I found it to be intensely absorbing and incredibly moving. Since it's gained such a rabid following, I imagine many people watch it with expectations that can't be met. I'd definitely call it one of my

Fair to Midland
I don't have the patience to see if anyone else brought this up, but I was quite disappointed (but not surprised) to see that Fair to Midland's major label debut (Fables from a Mayfly: What I Tell You Three Times is True) wasn't included on this list. I think they're one of the most promising new bands

I feel bad. I've only seen one of the non-genre films you mention (Tootsie).

1982
A great year for genre films!

It's gonna take about ten years and a string of shitty direct-to-video movies before Alba disrobes for the camera. Either someone will offer her some kind of "daring role" (read: Oscar bait) in an indie film or she'll want to prove that she's still sexy and relevant by doing a Playboy spread. And those are only *if*

I actually really like Carrey when he's playing dramatic roles. Eternal Sunshine is great, and I think I'm one of five people who really enjoyed The Majestic. I will agree that The Number 23 was pretty mediocre, though, but I didn't think it was because of his performance. It was just a lame script to begin with. I

start with the new series
A friend of mine enthusiastically recommended I watch the new series before it even aired, and despite never watching an episode of the original, his enthusiasm was so infectious that I felt compelled to do so. I did ask him to recommend a classic episode to help me sort of get into the

I've always figured that the Christian elements had to have been added well after its initial telling. After all, it just didn't make sense to me that a bunch of viking-type people would be worshipping Christ. And the whole thing about Grendel being a descendant of Cain never made much sense to me either.

Quoted from the IMDb, "The movie was originally put into theatrical release simultaneously in both its PG and R-rated formats in the USA. Most home video versions are the R-rated one, but TV and movie channels show the PG version. The R-rated version features a few more minutes of graphic sex and violence."
