I agree. Also, I think that POTUS is such a small group. They can commiserate even if disagreeing on many other things. There are only a handful of people that know what stress the Obama family has undergone in office. W is one of those.

Personally, I think the hug was genuine, and based on a recognition that he got a few things right.

GW Bush did do some commendable things as President, including, for example, pressing to funds to help fight AIDS in Africa. And one of those commendable things he did was to sign legislation instructing the Smithsonian to start planning for this museum, and saying he believed it should be built on the national Mall.
