It looks like from the menu system that Nintendo is leaving open the possibility of more game modes in the future, either at release or as DLC. Here’s hoping for an SMB2 theme!

Might be able to spice it up a little by taking item and enemy placement out of player’s control by rolling some dice (or using a RNG) to determine what and where things go. There’s another Sonic board game coming out this year weirdly enough that’s only $30 USD and is also a modular racing game with minis, only the $30 looks more indepth and playable than this one.
