Sounds like the Terry Schiavo “debate” we had here years ago.

God I’m not shocked that he said that but how disgusting.
Wow, that is an insanely bad take. Especially when you consider how bad America is at giving its citizens access to healthcare, compared to most developed countries.
So... to murder doctors with?
...or financial ends. It’s a very exploitable situation.
I think cases like this have been going on for decades, it’s just that it’s recently become a battleground worthy of media coverage.
Yeah the mass shooting thing especially. It sucks because I have been hospitalized and everyone that I’ve met has been more a danger to themselves than anyone else.
Lol, you don’t sound like a dick at all.
Is it though? I’m bipolar and I can say bar none that I’ve fucked up my life in my manic phases, because they involved the police more than once. It fucking sucks. It might be his bipolar, but I have not once started to adopt alt right ideology when having a manic episode.
Being a black girl in the school system (anywhere really) is a double whammy- black and female. But these dress codes are also classsist as hell- if you add low income on top of all that? Forced to wear your sisters old clothes who is shorter than you so maybe the clothes aren’t such a great fit but it’s all you have?…
I quit hard alcohol entirely years ago; I could drink it like water, and I didn’t feel it until it kicked me in the back of the head.
That said, I’m fully aware that the beer I drink now is still damaging my health—it’s just a lower alcohol content that I’m imbibing. That anyone would tell themselves, “It’s just beer,…
Thank you! The pullback has been a little harder than I’d anticipated, but not because I physically need a drink—I’ve just gotten into such a habit that it’s hard to go through an evening without wanting a drink.
That, and I’m a dyed in the wool hypochondriac. The first time I learned about withdrawal from alcohol, I…
Same. A close friend is a rehab/detox PA and he sees it also all the time - people in their twenties and early thirties passing from pancreas/liver failure. They also look about 10 years older at the time too because of the devastation to the organs. So sad.
Working on pulling back from my current alcohol intake myself (I’ve always been a heavy drinker when I sat down to drink, but up until the last couple of years, that was maybe one or two days a week; now I’m averaging 4-6 standard beers a day, and I’m not happy about that at all, so I’m actively working on getting…
Yeah cirrhosis sucks some people really hang on to “the liver regenerates it self” but NOT IF YOU KEEP DRINKING. Also the liver is not that ~magical~ and they get fatty liver and proceed to cirrhosis anyways from NASH. Ugh sigh.
There was a big environmental component, along with an intense career that had him traveling the globe performing with no breaks. A couple of years ago one of his concerts in Boston resulted in 50 people needing treatment for alcohol poisoning. That’s insane.
From what I’ve seen people put themselves through with drugs and alcohol and still have clear blood work, I can’t imagine what it took to have pancreatitis from alcohol at such a young age. I know genetics plays a bit into it, but it takes years of Leaving Las Vegas style chronic drinking to get to that stage.
It makes me wonder if this is an area where much research has been done: what is it that can make a given movie terrifying to one person and have almost no effect on somebody else?
Something related: possibly the most iconic death in the original Nightmare On Elm Street is when Johnny Depp’s character is sucked into…
Most definitely, but the classism has always trumped, if you’ll pardon the pun, the racism/xenophobia over here.
Well yes, racism. Conservatives all over the world are just one synonym away from “I’m racist” at this point huh?
