Yeah, it makes no sense. They might be trying to say that a union could prevent a faculty member from buying time according to a “negotiation” with the student, but that has nothing to do with funding levels. That’s more about time and availability of assignments and funding for RA’s (i.e., you work a max .49 FTE,

Yeah, exactly. I’m sure that situation works out just fine!

I went to a large land grant university for my doctorate and we had a graduate student union. It had a very positive impact on our lives and the quality of our work. Faculty were careful about the hours we worked, they gave us credit for research and our contributions to projects, and we had pretty good health

In addition to being a yuuuuge bigot, this guy is such a fucking asshole that his own men wanted to kill him in Vietnam, and there’s nothing conservatives love more than someone who’s a prick to everyone all the time.

Thanks for sharing your story. Finding the right therapist can be key, and it sounds like it was a turning point for you, too. I’m paying out-of-pocket right now for a guy I love because I can’t find someone I can deal with (or who can deal with me) in my network. But it’s worth it to work with the right person, and

Jesus, you’re right.

You literally might need to use your toes to count us all!

You can come with me back to the Caribbean and the East Coast ca. 1480 with a giant box of smallpox and hepatitis vaccine. We might get killed, but we have a time machine, so...

The dude had class, and threw great dinner parties.

That’s just playing Russian roulette with your own life. I mean, how fucking horribly scary! To have someone walk backwards toward you...

I’m not trying to minimize Trump’s obvious racism and sexism and the real damage that it is doing to people. What Presidents say actually does matter, and minority-soon to be majority-Americans and women deserve a President who takes their dignity, prosperity, and security seriously.

Wow. Thanks for the link. The other things that stand out to me in the article you posted are the spike in borrowing for associate degrees, higher drop out rates at 4-year colleges, and higher for-profit college debt. Those last two, in particular, are the kiss of death, financially speaking.

Man, there are so many deadly weapons cops have to face; their job just sounds terrifying. Let’s review:

See ya down at the Walmart, Cammie!

Walk away from what? Bush and Co. smashed two nations, killed hundreds of thousands, drove us into an unending quagmire, shredded the 4th Amendment, watched the economy tank while they counted down their days in office, and presided over the destruction of a major American city. And all of those evil motherfuckers are

In Kentucky, my current state of residence, there are “moist” counties, which I think is where alcohol is sold in restaurants but there are no liquor stores. I’m not entirely sure because I would never, ever go to a fucking county that claimed to be moist. Living in this state is rough enough as is...

It’s a redemption arc only if you buy the media narrative, which I don’t. These guys are never really gone. They just fade back for a while and then get a new gig. Every shitbag crony from the Bush administration who helped craft our disastrous war in Iraq is on fucking TV right now in one capacity or another, and

Well, I was sort of being facetious, but I do appreciate your very thorough reply! :)

“My only concern is the inefficiency of punching someone in the head like this. Pointless risk to your own hand and fingers.”
