Oh my gawd. How you are not on trial for mass murder right now is beyond me.

Ouch... but starred.

Another senile old white guy somehow still in charge of important things. Someone take grandpa’s keys!

My wife is also tall (5'11") and generally she has to pack all the shoes and pants she needs or will possibly want. Funny you mention Germany, though, as her family is originally from Germany, and the first time we were in Germany together we just laughed at the abundance of clothing and shoes that fit her. It wasn’t

That’s a fine quote.

If I’m on a long trip, my strategy is to pack for one week and then just repeat the week for the duration of the month/semester/summer. Underwear and socks for 7-8 days, a few pairs of pants/shorts, some t-shirts I can wear with or without a few button downs, and work out clothes. If winter then a light jacket and/or

According to drivers in Lexington, Kentucky? The proper place to stop for your left turn is in the right lane. Just put on your left blinker and everything will work out great!

My guess is that there are additional rules of conduct that govern behavior and speech in and out of the classroom that are not codified

Honor code applies, on campus, off campus, overseas, and online. That’s how it works at most places. Whether they enforce it is entirely up to the school (and I’ve seen it applied very unevenly in the past), but it’s usually on the books that way.

Do it!

My wife cried and cried too, which got me crying. We were a sorry pair leaving the theater. It might have been the bourbon...

I do agree with you that the textbooks have little if anything to do with it. Good readers read all the time. It isn’t considered a skill, it’s just something you do. If you read all the time, you’ll become a good reader. Don’t relate to the textbook? Then read something in your spare time you do relate to. But if

Fucking grammar gets you every time...

Awesome! Going tomorrow night. Had to convince my wife to go; she’s suffering from Super Hero Movie Fatigue.

“By turning a declaration into a question, it invites the listener to listen actively, to nod or confirm, much like adding “you know?” or “right?” to a sentence.”

Someone who is not me should organize a Kentucky Jez meetup sometime, maybe at Against the Grain or West Sixth, depending on which city plays host. Would be a fine evening, I think.

Agree with what you’re saying, but it extends beyond poverty as a factor. I watch a lot of financially secure adults waddle back to the office with a bag of Chik-fil-a and a big Mountain Dew for lunch.* Bad choices abound.
