I don’t think so, but they had the power power brakes that were pretty problematic. They were like the “servo brakes” on BMW motorcycles and when they fail, they are unrepairable.

Which is really strange because when these were introduced, all the car mags claimed that the Bentley was the car to have because it had the “real” RR V8 instead of the BMW V12.

He has ethics?

Not just a Phaeton, but a twin turbocharged Phaeton!

I remember when these came out (with the G-Lader 4 cyl). They were so cool, I had to check it out. Big nope for me when I wouldn’t fit. I’m 6'3" and there was just no headroom. I didn’t even test drive it. I doubt anyone over 6' could comfortably fit in these cars and the ideal height would probably be around 5'8".

Were these cars cool when they came out?

I’ve said this before (probably on this site but definitely on one of Mercedes Streeter’s posts on the other site) but this gen Smarts are horrible to drive. The auto/manual is just beyond terrible. It’s like riding with someone who is driving stick for the first time. Shifts happen at inopportune times and take

It’s a great read but in my defense, I posted before H4llelulah.

I can’t believe that I might actually feel sorry for a car dealership....nope, the dealer I dealt with on my 2015 Ram can rot in hell.

It’s funny how the dealers that I trust the least are Dodge/Ram/Jeep dealers. I swear that the car dealership in Fargo was based on a Dodge/Ram/Jeep dealer.

Agreed - if you want a midsize SUV that can tow a trailer, it’s a great choice. The extra length over the Grand Cherokee is also useful.

When I was a kid, someone in our neighborhood had swapped a 340 V8 into one of those. Looking at these photos, they must have used a really large shoe horn!

This one has (according to the ad) an extended MB warranty - if it’s not just for the emissions mods, it should be covered for the next four years.

I have a motorcycle disk lock that I only use when touring. I have had nightmares about forgetting that thing and creating this exact scenario days from home....

It’s amazing that these were based on the pedestrian Nova platform with slight rework, yet it was Cadillac’s most expensive car. GM made a fortune on these.

I love these cars, ever since there was a blue one I walked by every day on my way to school. At $11,500, I’d be plotting how to convince the wife we need this car...at $21,500, I’d expect it to be perfect.

We’ve all been there. I’ve purchased parts on a sale and then put off installing them until after the return window has expired, only to find that they don’t fit. This leads to “My mistake is your gain” FB Marketplace ads.

There is nothing more depressing than spending hours just to end up with all the stock parts

I didn’t think rod bearings were a big problem in this engine? I know the M3 V8 and the M5 V10 have rod bearing issues but don’t these “just” have regular BMW V8 issues?

In the UK, it was common to take a TR7 and swap in a Rover V8 making a TR7/8. My favorite uncle had one and it was a blast with a lightly breathed on V8 making around 200hp. One of my best memories is bombing down B roads in that car.

I’ve never seen one of these without the horrible plaid upholstery, this is a big

Call David Tracy, it’s a Holy Grail!

I think it’s more likely to depreciate like the Panamera since it’s a four door Porsche and only the two door models seem to appreciate. On top of that it’s an electric car and those are generally depreciating quickly.
