It’s even worse than the ultra-rich using these private foundations to funnel money to their own pet projects and to derive material benefits (ie, donate to an educational institution so their shitty kids can get in) - which is a fact. In addition, most of the top private foundations fail to meet even the minimum

I thought it was pretty accepted that when super rich people have charities, those are usually just a way for them to funnel money back into their other enterprises. Twas ever thus.

He should join Congress, then doing that would be perfectly ok.

I’m in agreement. Like, I think Trump is a bad candidate and probably doesn’t have a great chance, but 2016 wasn’t that long ago and I can’t believe we’ve forgotten how easily dems can lose against a joke candidate if they get lazy.

Yes. No time for Dems to rest in their laurels. All this talk that “Trump has no chance if winning” gives me the heebie jeebies.

Don’t get me wrong: I would love an inspiring white knight of a Democrat to emerge for 2024. But I absolutely do not think it’s necessary if Trump is the Republican nominee. If we get Trump/Biden 2.0, Biden has to be the odds-on favorite because, at this point, there simply aren’t that many people left to be won over

If Trump lost in the primaries, I wouldn’t put it past him to run third-party out of spite & split the vote.

I would like to hope that this will create utter chaos for the GOP in the lead up to the next election, leaving them vulnerable at local and state levels and boosting Dem chances.

But fuck-a-doodle-doo I’d prefer not to test the theory.

There really isn’t any way for the GOP to ditch him and have any chance whatsoever at the Presidency in 2024.

While it will never be able to escape the weight of losing its main actor and choosing to soldier on anyways, I thought it told a really interesting story and filled out an already vibrant world and group of characters in one of the stronger recent MCU movies

I found myself losing all my misgivings about her as the movie went on honestly. she’s definitely said some dumb shit and I hope she chooses to educate herself instead of doubling down on it, but purely in terms of the art her performance in the movie was pretty incredible. I also wasn’t expecting how dark they would

“I got this wrong, and I take responsibility for that.””

No, Mark, you are making 11,000 other people take responsibility for that. You are taking no responsibility.

Even if Shuri gets the torch, SHE believes in science, even if her actor doesn’t.

I just disagree. Boseman was a screen icon possessed of unusual charisma and grace, and this was widely recognized before his passing. There’s a reason Boseman is the first unsnapped face we see walking through the portal in Endgame. People aren’t just grading him up as a performer because he died young. With respect

“...though he gives an indisputably star-making turn, it still feels like a villain—even one as well-reasoned as him—shouldn’t be the most important, or interesting, character in this hero’s tale.”

Audiences will delight as this panther of a movie slinks through the night! Take note, Blake Edwards, this is how you make a sequel after a star has passed. Coogler doesn’t need to resort to deleted scenes to make this kitty purr! Although the missus’ wouldn’t shut up about her confusion of Angela Basset/Shirley

1 million percent correct.

When I lived in Europe for a short time, all the skinhead, white supremacists, Nazis, whatever never, ever travelled anywhere alone. Ever.

So, according to Marco Rubio, a white supremacist being assaulted is by definition an attack on someone for being a Republican?

“Violence isn’t the answer” etc etc
