Agreed. I also use Noscript, not so much for the secure factor (although that's there) but for reasons of speed. Hosts file or no, ad/analytics servers like to jump aboard my bandwidth if I let them. That's where noscript helps.

I think the numbers will still be resolved, just not locally cached, which might or might not give you a delay. That's my understanding at least.

I use a little program called Mirror to keep two folders in sync. One folder is on a flash drive. It has an identical twin on one of my HDDs. The program has been nearly impossible to find online lately. So I put a copy in my public dropbox folder. Maybe it will be what you need.
