I used to use DriveImage for that. For reasons I still don't understand, it stopped working, at least on XP. It might have been a service pack. I don't know. After that, I gave up and just did registry and file backups. But now that I have Win7 on a newer computer, the frontier may be clear again. I haven't

I have asked for it back. I get no help there. I take it that WG is answerable to someone else. I have mixed feelings, they change from day to day. Days like today, I don't mind so much. Other times, when I've emailed and gotten no reply, it's just been upsetting. WG was the one who gave me the star. But

My idea of futureproofing involves reigning in overzealous and otherwise bloated software. Keep the traffic down, and the highway stays passable longer.

I really don't get articles like this, that make dining out seem like a hostile, adversarial experience.

I thought that word alone would rope in more commenters. Guess I don't know sh*t.

Excellent! Thanks!

It could be a good thing *and* a bad thing. I'm wondering now if the lady has a sturdy server/provider. I hope so.

I'm not overly unhappy about it. After all, if they hadn't featured it and LH hadn't featured it, I'd never have seen it. Really I don't go anywhere else but Lifehacker for sustenance anymore. Not to put the pressure on, but I need this place more than ever.

@hurrakan: This one has been around a while apparently. It's not perfect (what is), but it annotates files without touching the files themselves.

Oh you beat me to it. I guess I should thank TheNextWeb for the link to the original. I just wish they hadn't done it up in the way they did.

Original article.

@Platypus Man: You're never going to get your wish, so long as I'm around. :) :) :)

Since when are unfulfilled dreams a "grandmotherly" notion?

Hey that worked! Thanks! But that highlighting thing looks like it's there for good, unless there can be an automated keystroke that would left-click one space to the right of "imdb" in order to cancel the highlighting. I have a vague idea about how to do it with Autohotkey. It would involve a hotstring. That

I thought I had talked to you before that but comments tell the real story. This brings to mind something I once discussed with TheFu, something to do with using Gawker's stickiness as a way to keep notes and to-do's, the idea being, that if Gawker or Google Cache won't let me live anything down, why not use them

@Met: I think you're going in the right direction. What you were doing before, is what I like to call 'finger yoga'. People get away with it for a while, but as you noticed, it catches up. I would say, keep on dividing duties between hands. Also, have your hands do non-keyboard things periodically... stretches,

@Ben Babcock: I have some guesses, unless you've resolved the problem by now. It may not be any one extension, but the overall number of them, clamoring in some way or other for a piece of your bandwidth, your memory, cpu.
