When going from Seattle to D.C. be sure to take the North Cascades Highway instead of I90. You can get back on the interstate at various points but I'd stick with highway 20 across the northern part of Washington since the drive across Sherman pass is pretty great too.

I have to recommend bluetooth stereos on old cars. There's just something BTTF about getting into a 1980s car and wirelessly taking a hands-free phone call through the car's speakers, not to mention controlling the car's audio with your voice.
