They were great until the rise of easy access high speed. Game demos grew in size much faster then net speeds did, and being able to just install one off a disk and save hours of download time was a godsent.

Oh this is? No wonder I’ve not seen CW run as of late.

It’s expensive, sure, but it’s also bleeding edge tech, which is always pricy. I mean look at blu rays, a pc BD-rom drive at release was like $900.

What about using it to test friends who may have had a few too many? Or to prevent date rape by keeping track of how many you have had? Or testing folks at a company party to prevent folks leaving who may not be acting too drunk. etc and so forth.

There is no real proof of such concern though, at least not coming from the devs. I can’t recal them talking about any issues making the right sort of female, at least not in any interview i’ve seen from them.

I know right? who gets worked up because a dev dared to go with a female lead instead of yet another male one? It’s not like there is a huge group named after watergate that throws around cried of ‘sjw appeaser!’ every time a dev uses a character who isn’t a male spaze marine.

That doesn’t mesh with what i’ve read on it. Why does everyone seem to be outraged over this unseen cabal of ‘radical feminists’? Are they taking over your skatepark or favorite surfing beach?

That’s not what the devs said though. Reading the interviews around it’s announcement, it was more about having a female lead period.

It’s all about context and what rating the publisher wants, in order to maximize sales.

Sort of. Horizon wasn’t a concern about sexualization, it was about backlash from ‘gamers’ for having a female lead period. They actually had to go to focus groups to prove to the money that it wasn’t the risk they feared.

Actually, this ignores a very real aspect of language, once that the article covered: lines can have multiple meaning, and due to cultural issues, mean completely different things. What one culture sees as harmless is seen with a different light elsewhere. When Oddworld released in Japan, they reduced abes finger

The issue was more that back then, police were not normally issued long range weapons, and were ill equip to deal with a sniper as a result.

Indeed. Heck, it even had a “play offline’ option if you wanted to avoid invasions even with PSN on.

Still there call and theirs alone, no once forced them to change things, aka, censored them.

LOL, gaming is a business son, who your customers are and who you could attract are always high in the mind of publishers. God knows how many focus groups, etc, they go though before ‘fun’ even factors in.

Not to play it, no. Only to use the multiplayer invasion stuff. You can still summon AI to help out though, not that you should really need it.

As someone with a small child, it made gaming actual doable. Babies don’t wait for savepoints.

Because you can make your own, which is actually a strength of it. For example, a destiny clan could create a clan community to comensate for the lack of clan feature sin game. I could create a community for hardcore only, legit runs of Diablo 3, while another person could create one for casual runs only, or even

What, no mention of communities? IT was a fairly nice addition to the console, and works on an OS level. They also added the ever useful controller remapping, something I can’t recall seeing in a console before.

Will have to wait for the GECK to be released. Probably need a ton of scripting changes to make everything play nice.
