If you're willing to risk it, have the technical know-how and are prepared to put up with the fact that you might have to restore your phone from a backup - then you can download and try to install the actual Google apps.

I flew on Thomson Airways recently and they played this video. I'm not sure if it counts as the best, but probably the only safety video I've watched from start to end.

I think this is the wrong way around. Facebook should list the people who post the most and ask you if you really want to see every little thing that they eat, drink or do with their children. If you say "no" then move them to the acquaintance list. That'll clean up your feed more effectively than this tool currently

Considering the number of multi-coloured cases that are in use by iPhone users, having a phone in a range of colours makes a lot of sense. Personally I'd like the back case to be easily removable and interchangeable (even if you couldn't get at the battery) - it would allow people to have a more unique phone without

The issue this article is talking about is when the end time is extremely flexible (eg. extra time in a football game). In cases like that, your solution of adding 5 minutes to the end of the recording won't do much if the game overruns by 2 hours.

I'm not entirely convinced that games would be cheaper. I remember the days when games moved from cartridge to CD. Back then everyone said that they would become a lot cheaper because the cost of a CD was significantly lower than the cost of a cartridge. In reality, the price just stayed the same and the publishers

This is a good start. I'm hoping that Google releases the stock versions of the phone dialer, contacts, gallery and messaging to be able to finish this process off.

So basically they're copying Samsung and launching a mid-tier mid-specification phone that trades on the name of it's flagship big brother just because it looks the same albeit a little smaller? I look forward to the day when an Android phone manufacturer has a wild and crazy idea and sells a 4" phone that isn't

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it requires that information to already be embedded within the metadata of the music file. The problem I have is that none of my music files have that!

It is worth noting that whilst your bank and credit card company know where you shop, they don't know what you shop for since details about the individual items are never passed to them. In other words, they know you spent $50 at Walmart, but have no idea what it was.

The reason why is in the article. Apple have a patent for the connector (awarded in 2007).

Rather than a joint account for everything, use it only for the mortgage/rent and major bills (gas, electricity, broadband, etc). If both of you put a set amount in each month then any excess at the end of each month can be accrued and then used for the summer holiday. // If you can afford it, get a cleaner in once a

Something with a fast enough BPM - the problem being that I don't know the BPM of many of my tracks. Does anyone know of a command line based app that can determine the BPM for a MP3 or AAC file? I'd like to write something which calculates the BPM of my music and updates the iTunes meta-data with it so I can create a

I think they also need to work on how you get Google accounts onto your phone. On my iPhone I've got Gmail for mail, CalDav for Calendars and Reminders and CardDav for Contacts. So that's three places where I have to enter my username, password and server name. Why can't I just put my Gmail username and password in

None of these are particularly "ugly" - not compared to the Brown and Root building in Colliers Wood, South London.

I'm all for promoting Dashclock - but it only works on handsets with 4.2 and above. Meaning that a whole 2.3% of the Android toting population can actually use it.

The only two things I like are Jesse Head's app switcher and Pieter Goris' black keyboard. I don't think Apple are going to change the style of the icons and, as much as I like the black keyboard, I think they'll probably leave that alone too. The terrible chat "bubbles" do need to be wiped off the face of this

I thought it was creepy at first but then it was pointed out to me that the chances are that those people have uploaded their address books to LinkedIn and they contain your contact details. That would explain why my painter and decorator comes up in the "People you may know" list.

Very true, but a $20 case can give the same protection, albeit in a slightly less stylish way. The question is whether paying three times more is worth it just for the better look and feel - a premium not even Apple could get away with!
