Correct, being Amish is a choice they make so until they're of certain age, they are given less restrictions. But once they reach a certain age or about to get married, they have to make the choice.

Correct, a lot of Amish people have generators. Also, depending on what state they're in, they are not allowed to collect and sell milk without pasteurizing it first which requires machinery. Some will allow a power line to be connected to the barn but the devout faithful will only use generators which they will

I'm near there in Houston. We have had rain deficits ever since Hurricane Ike and this year appears to be the worst of it. Rainfalls has been nearly non-existent for this year and we're in the worst category of drought right now. I think we're at least -18 inches for 2011.

SKiTz, if I could promote your comment, I would.

They're actually making a comeback at wedding receptions and large private parties. Out here in Houston, there's a company that will come out to your event, set up the booth, and provide various props. They also set the booth up at festivals and people seem to love it, especially kids.

I've thought about buying a power strip like this one so that I can at least power down my home theater audio, htpc, and game consoles when my tv is off.

You do realize we can fit the whole country of NZ inside California and have plenty of space left over, right? Population-wise, NZ has as just a litte more people than the 26th most populous US state (Kentucky). Trying to compare the infrastructure and operation between two siginificantly different countries is

Honestly, your average Gizmodo reader would know what unlocked means. It's like the weather man having to explain what snow, sleet, or icy conditions means every time.

It's sad that we need an article to go over this kind of stuff yet it's absolutely neccessary. In all honesty, no matter what the text or phone call is, it can't be important enough for you to check once you enter a theater, period. If it can be that important, you shouldn't be at the movies.

Maybe he's using the dev version of it which is already out for developers?

Excellent. Now ESPN just needs an option to allow people to purchase a subscription if they don't use Verizon or Time Warner. I would cancel my cable in a heartbeat if I could get ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN3 without them.

I've been wanting to switch to Clear just because I typically don't need my internet service still running at home while I'm not there. It would also be nice to have a faster data service than what 3G offers while on the go. My only caveat is the fact I have a hardwired NAS and HTPC. The NAS runs my bittorrent

I'm guessing some people don't want to switch to Verizon because they're grandfathering in their unlimited data plan. That's probably the only reason I may renew my contract next year with AT&T.

Wait, so the link to this story brings up another link to a story that I need to click on? Since it's pointing me to another Gawker site, why not just rediect me in the first place?

I usually just have another widow positioned over it so I can alt+Tab to cover it up. I don't want to waste precious moments with having to restart the stream.

@timgray: I actually have a JVC digital receiver that does not have a microphone for calibrating so the section covering this is helpful for me. I'm sure there are others in the same boat that just don't have the funds to upgrade it. I'm replacing my projection HDTV and speakers first.

Old picture is old?

The resistance lives on! They already upated www.gizmodo.net to look like the new version so it's only a matter of time before they do the same to foreign pages. But unil then, viva resistance!

aaaaaaaaawesome. Thank you.

@JDV28: no problem. I just really wanted that pic for a wallpaper and wasn't settling for the "large" version on flicker. That's when I read the description and saw the NASA link and took a chance.
