All it'd need is some sort of arm mechanisms to tuck the wheels closer in to the body and push them out to have the rings fold down.

Aside from some touches like color-coding on the engine components, the fact it's a lot bigger than what I'd like to do, and that it's for a much more noble cause than lazy, oft-absent-minded people like myself, this reminds me a lot of the simple-maintenance car idea I'd been humoring.
