vicious cycle with energy from coal power...
i was just there a few days ago, such a fun place. Zoo to one side, Spa World at one end, that tower at the other end, and tons of restaurants. went to a restaurant called Shodai Ebisu, it’s got kumate all over the walls and teppan on the tables. the okonomiyakis were pretty good as was the big slab of meat.
lol, just like Amon Ra Jesus. =P
it’s fairly popular, at least most people know what it is, and their paraphernalia usually sells quite well for something not obviously kawaii. (as in as opposed to say, Sanrio characters). Hokkaido’s snow festivals regularly have snow/ice sculptures with Star Wars themes.
it’s not a problem at all. the Kotaku community is pretty great so i’d like to help out whenever i can. i’m also slowly transferring some of my Facebook guides to Kinja since i’m kinda an idiot when it comes to using those other blogger sites. you can take a look at some of my itineraries and such here. http://moxfacto…
i haven’t flown out from Vancouver since 1996 (moved back to Hong Kong since), so i can only recommend looking for deals via FareCompare or SkyScanner, unless you personally know someone from one of the travel agencies in Chinatown (if you’re not friends with them, they’ll likely rip you off).
go skiing at Gala-Yuzawa then take a detour from there.
google the term “dekamori food”, if omori is XL portions of food, dekamori is XXXXXL.
there’s a lot of pretty good deals if you fly out from Vancouver. if you’re doing the basic Tokyo-Kyoto-Osaka (and whatever else in between) route, you can probably find a decent price on open jaw ticket and skip the JR pass. i’d suggest going Osaka->Kyoto->Tokyo for the last few days and do your souvenir shopping in…
is this any different than the old midi music i was used to in the early 90’s?
can you do a browning glaze after to get that shine?
to the people who think cartridge systems suck compared to current era disc-based systems, the 3DS is proof they’re still completely wrong.
great is a matter of opinion.
you can ask them if you’d like but it may have to go through google translate or someone who can read/write Japanese.
if you do decide to try it yourself, don’t forget their “tempura” batter and oil are different than normal tempura. they added white sugar and sesame seeds to the batter, and fried with Canola oil for around 20 minutes, rather than say, sesame oil(good tempura restaurants) or peanut oil(cheaper tempura restaurants).…
as far as i can tell, while non-specially cultivated viewing maple has about 4-5 different species around Minoo, they only use イロハモミジ(iroha momiji, Acer palmatum) to preserve and deep fry. and not say... ヤマモミジ Acer palmatum var.matsumurae or オオモミジ Acer palmatum var.amoenum.
same here, had them before but it’s been around 20 years ago, i’ve forgotten the taste.
