did you get to eat the ears? all the cartilage in the ears are really good, although you may need to cut it into very small bitesized pieces because the cartilage is quite hard.

i'd go with Yangmei(Chinese Bayberry) instead. it taste like half way between a strawberry and a mulberry, and excellent as a light sweet summer drink. Sour plum drinks are more for after hotpot... and can be a bit strong in it's tartness if made properly.
