I don’t know how it’d work for you, but the only way I can lose weight and keep it off is the 5:2 diet. Basically you eat normally, albeit maybe more fruit or veg depending on your current diet, but 2 days a week you eat under 500 or 600 calories. Its only for public appearances like this. They dress them in normal clothes the rest of the time, so they hopefully won’t be recognised and can have some anonymity if they go out. 

Took up having seizures. That wasn’t having a good time however it was potentially life threatening and stupid.
