@atrus123: I think you missed my point. The OS isn't the problem. It's the new hardware installed by manufacturers. If it needs a driver, stock android is not going to contain it. The skin is necessary lest you want the bloat.

@analogs: Tech bloggers are idiots if they think there can be a universal stock OS that works on every device possible without skins that include drivers. That's like asking XP SP1 to work on all new hardware. It's just not possible.

@maythetechbewithyou: I'm not arguing the OS is incompatible with the device per se, just not all of its parts. The "skin" contains the drivers needed to work everything properly.

Android will have to mature enough to the point where it carries drivers for every phone's hardware. Then you end up with a bloated OS. Is that what everyone wants?

I've never seen a mouse trap sprung in slow motion. I have to say, that can't end well for the mouse. Rather than calling them traps, they should call them mouse destroyers. Something more befitting its purpose. Anyone have a slo-mo video of a mouse springing a "trap"?
