My disagreement w/you is regarding the STEM vs Humanities stuff.

Definitely. Passion helps but isn’t necessary, and often gets in the way of doing a good job because people say “I’m not passionate about this and therefore I don’t care about it.” Pirsig did a good job talking about caring about your job in Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. It’d be good if more people would

I think people get too enamored with the “funkiness” of Buell bikes.  Erik Buell seems to suffer from “engineer-itis,” where he makes things weirder or more complicated than they need to be (thus more failure-prone) which some people mis-identify as “good engineering.”

Your ability to rationalize your lack of concern for your neighborhood is remarkable. Are you really saying that cars leaking in your yard are less of an environmental hazard than if they were running? So, you’re doing the world a favor?

Some day you will die, or move away, and if you happen to do so before all those

“I’ll end up with about twenty grand in my pocket”

It’s the intervention he needs. Everyone here has just been an enabler

I know this will sound rude; maybe it is.  It’s also the truth.

Good for them. I’d hate to live next to a junkyard too.

Yeah he got thrown off here. The DOHC (in the R/T) is 222hp. This SOHC (in this base ES) is 170ish, TT was 300-320 depending on year IIRC

TT @ 222 hp? I’m thinking the plain 6 was likely 222, and the TTV6 320

We don’t have sub-blogs,

Bring back Lanesplitter.

On top of all that, Brosnan has a reputation for being a super decent and nice human being. This article comes off as petty.

I have a little bit of experience with this stuff as an IP lawyer who lived and worked in West LA at the time. If anyone thinks this story makes Brosnan look bad, that’s likely the result of not understanding how this stuff works.

Seems a bit bitchy.  Slow news day?

Are you really trying to cram anyone 6ft in the back of a small coupe? No one buys a coupe for a family or expects it to be completely practical.  Comparing dimensions, they are about the same really.

You buy a Harley for status

You don’t buy a Harley because you want to be the fastest, just like you don’t buy a Lincoln Navigator to be the fastest. Would you be surprised to learn that different vehicle full fill different roles across almost infinite price points.

Sure. However, vehicle purchases don’t have to be 100% based on objective terms or else we’d all be Erik and drive a used Honda Fit...

Sigh. Another H-D thread filled with the same commenters hating on H-D.
