I don’t think anyone expects you to care, and that’s fine. But straight white guys with money also experience depression. It’s almost like all humans are capable of mental health issues.

I think some of that same hyperbole hurt Girls/Dunham similarly. I know I had lady friends in their early twenties who cringed hard at the “voice of a generation” stuff surrounding the show.

As someone with a family I’ll say that I wouldn’t trust Shazam 2 to be 100% family friendly after seeing Shazam. I liked the first one and it’s a perfectly fine movie for preteens and up but I wouldn’t want to take young kids to it without at least some warning. The board room scene is A LOT.

Levi responded to an account called ConservativeDad a.k.a SnyderBot on Twitter lol. Like, seriously, just put the phone down. Christ, do you not have handlers, or any sense of... anything?

AV Club, for reasons known only to them, desperately trying to get a Shazam! Fury of the Gods Discourse started. It’s a mid-tier movie franchise starring a mid-tier superhero that received middling reviews, but all superhero films are supposed to be SPECTACLES now, so I guess we have to talk about about it being a

That’s just not true and you know it

I keep hearing that families don’t go see movies anymore. But there are still plenty of family movies making bank. The latest Minions made almost a billion worldwide, Puss In Boots made 470 million and counting, Sonic 2 and Sing 2 each did 400 million.

I had friends that loved Garden State and friends that hated it. I thought it was just okay. Kind of the cinematic equivalent of a somewhat derivative, definitely middling YA novel. If I recall correctly, part of the backlash was in response to the victory lap Braff himself took afterwards. I believe he described it

I wish this site was anywhere near as good as Tumblr.

The latest actor who no one asked to weigh in on this but felt the need to anyway is Game of Thrones Ciarán Hinds...

Ugggghhh I know that this comment appears on every article that the AV Club posts nowadays but like: why are you being snarky about this?

“...dismally-received DC film...”

The music for bands invented for movies and TV rarely works, and it especially doesn’t work when the songs are supposed to be mega-hits.

Don’t confuse me with millions of other people. I’m talking at scale. Research is showing that the needle is moving.

It’s real, and it ain’t my research budget that proves it. You can be mad at me, but the numbers don’t lie.

The scale of Marvel’s success always depended on casual viewers joining the diehards (you need all of the above to mint blockbusters). While the core comic film fandom will never tire and has high tolerance for C- and D-tier characters, the dabblers have certainly fatigued. Comic fans are well versed in the minutiae

That’s not what they mean and you know it. Once you’ve worked in marketing with budgets in the tens of millions, you realize that it’s indeed possible to buy access to people’s throats.
